Having a hobby in the arts

Of my three siblings, I was the only one who showed a talent for music. My mother recognized this and encouraged me to learn the piano from an early age, and I participated in several competitions to showcase my skills. Playing musical instruments is a great hobby of mine, and even now, I sometimes play the piano or violin to relieve stress. I think having a hobby in the arts is very beneficial for me, because they say that the biggest enemy of the modern man is stress, and by having a hobby that I can focus on outside of work, I don’t let it overwhelm me.
Being computer savvy
In my role as a bookkeeper, I’ve been able to utilize computer programs to help me work more efficiently. I’ve been able to use programs like Excel to speed up my workflow, and I’ve been able to improve my computer skills by studying for certifications. I’m currently studying to become a certified presenter, which will allow me to be more dynamic when presenting material I’ve written, making it easier for others to understand what I’m saying. I am confident that by using computer programs to do my job more efficiently, I can improve my performance at your company.

Experiencing different things through movies and games

Among my friends, I was considered a mysterious person who could get all kinds of interesting movies and games. I was passionate enough to go out of my way to get them, even if they weren’t officially licensed or translated. Sometimes they weren’t age-appropriate, but I would invite my friends over to watch movies or play games with me to share my personal hobbies. However, when it came to discussing what I thought were the good, bad, and ugly aspects of a work, my friends often couldn’t follow along. I’d hear them complain that I was making a big deal out of a simple fun/not fun question.
At first, it bothered me that I was the only one who didn’t get it, but then I started to think that this was a common attitude of the average consumer that I would encounter later in life as a content creator. This was especially true when I showed my friends what I thought was an interesting gimmick, as they often didn’t understand it at all and called it boring. However, there were also some pieces that elicited favorable reactions from my friends, and as I analyzed the commonalities and characteristics of the pieces that were well-received, I felt like I was indirectly experiencing the research of the average buyer I would later meet as a content creator. The experience of realizing the diversity of my friends who had different perspectives on what I was interested in remains a lasting memory.

Composing and playing the piano for a living

Composing and playing music are my hobbies and talents. I often listen to classical music, and I also compose music in a new age style. I play the piano, so I compose based on that, and I’ve even released an album of classical music. Of course, I’m not good enough to have a successful music career, but it’s a way to express my sensibilities. As you compose, you naturally become more knowledgeable about music and accumulate information about classical music. This knowledge and information can be utilized to communicate with people as a hobby.
In my job as a salesperson, I meet people from different walks of life, ages, and genders. They all work in different fields and have led different lives, so it’s difficult to draw out common interests, but I think it’s not that difficult if you look at it differently. I usually lead the conversation naturally, talking about classical music, the state of composition, wine and spirits, and other things that interest the other person, and then they open up to me because they’re interested in my hobby, and it’s a win-win situation, not only in a personal relationship but also in a business relationship. Of course, you don’t have to turn your hobby into a business, but it can have a positive impact on your life in general.

Keeping up with the latest movies every week

I keep up with the latest movies every week. I check daily to see what’s been released that week, decide what I’m going to watch on the weekend, and once I’ve decided what I want to see, I find the theater where it’s playing and make reservations in advance. I do this not only because I love culture, but also because it gives me the energy I need to get through the rest of the week. When you have the anticipation of seeing the latest movie on the weekend, it creates a sense of excitement that helps you get through the week. So I’ve made it a habit to catch a movie on the weekend, and I consider it a doubly enjoyable hobby, not just for the movie, but for the memories you make with the people you’re watching it with.
Recently, I’ve been participating in cultural events such as plays, exhibitions, etc. as well as the latest movies. Since I usually work as a white-collar worker and perform somewhat repetitive tasks, I think there are benefits to enjoying cultural life on the one hand and seeing a dynamic workplace on the other. Therefore, if I were to join your company as a new employee, I would continue to maintain my hobbies such as enjoying cultural life, participating in or learning about it on the other hand. In this way, I will work as an energetic employee by balancing my work and hobbies.

Busking with a professional band

I have been active in band since high school, serving as a backup vocalist and guitar player for the band. I love music, and I enjoy playing and singing, so my time in band has brought me great joy and reward. Singing was always something I practiced, so I enjoyed practicing my vocals as a backup vocalist to the lead vocalist, and guitar was something I learned in high school and found it rewarding to see my playing skills grow. After graduating from high school, I continued to play in bands in college, connecting with friends I made in high school. We had a lot of experience performing on stage in high school, and we had a good chemistry with each other, so we continued our band in college, performing frequently at cafes and festivals. The more we worked together, the better we got, and the more audiences and fans we attracted, and later we started running our own social media accounts.
After gaining stage experience in college, I tried busking. While stages are equipped with performance equipment and it’s easier to be an echo and connect with the audience, busking is more challenging and requires experience. Busking is an open stage, so you need to have a loud voice and personal equipment to communicate with the audience. So we started busking after four years of band experience and started announcing our performance schedule on our Facebook page. Some of our fans came to see us in person, and people passing by Hongdae or Insadong happened to see us perform, so we gained a new fan base. Usually, busking is more acoustic, but since we were a rock band, we were able to interact with the public by presenting a soft rock type of music, which sometimes annoyed the people around us, and through trial and error, we were able to interact with the public.

Late-night movie watching hobby

My hobby is finding late-night movies, and I know at least three movie theaters near my house and go to them when I have time. On weekdays, late-night movies are often less crowded and cheaper, so it’s a great hobby for many reasons. On the weekends, if I’m free, I’ll often go to a movie well past dawn, and it’s something I enjoy doing. Watching a movie allows you to make memories with the people you’re watching it with, and even if you’re watching it alone, you can make your own memories. Whenever I make my own memories, I leave comments and write reviews about the movie. I also save my movie tickets and create a ticket album.
I keep the ticket album to myself, but I write reviews and share them with others. I don’t keep my thoughts to myself, but share them with other people’s thoughts, so that I can become a connoisseur of movies, because the more you know about a movie, the better you can see it and the more fun you can have watching it. So I post my reviews on the internet, share them with other people, and interact with them, so that I can learn more and more about movies. I believe that this effort to know and study movies is a beneficial behavior that can also contribute to my marketing job, because marketing is a job that needs to reflect trends, and information about movies is a good path to understand the public’s psychology.

Anime enthusiast

I love anime. Since I was a junior high school student, I have been fond of cartoons and have been exposed to not only domestic cartoons but also foreign cartoons, especially Japanese cartoons, without discriminating between countries. I read comic books frequently, and spending time in comic shops was a hobby during my school days. When I became a university student and had a headache while studying, I would stay up all night at the comic shop to watch manga. In this way, manga and anime were an integral part of my upbringing and the only way to relieve stress. However, as much as I love anime, I am an active person who doesn’t just watch it, but also engages in outside activities.
Since I was in high school, I’ve been cosplaying as manga characters and participating in related events to show off my talent. I’ve also been a manga enthusiast, so I’ve drawn my own manga and posted it on the internet, listening to people’s comments on my manga, making corrections and developing characters to complete the story. Now, I’ve improved my drawing skills to a certain extent, and I’m used to developing characters and stories. Of course, cosplay and manga creation are still hobbies, but I’m planning to develop my hobbies so that I can become more active online.

Writing, the power to calmly and methodically express thoughts

I grew up obsessed with words and rumors, and I used to specialize in writing to express my thoughts in a calm and thoughtful way. When I was younger, I used to collect and spread a lot of rumors because I liked to spread stories that would catch people’s attention and create a buzz. However, as I started to cherry-pick the parts that people wanted to hear and change the nuances to further spread the rumors, I started to have complicated thoughts and became interested in how the world works by relying on the written word rather than words. Speech and writing may seem similar, but there are many factors that make them quite different, so I put a lot of effort into my writing skills to convey a more cooked and reasoned opinion.
On the one hand, unlike speech, where there are external factors that can suck people in and make them pay attention in real time, writing had the handicap of having to draw people in solely with the finesse and skill of the writing from start to finish. Many of the techniques that I was able to utilize while spreading the word, such as a buzzing atmosphere, energetic tone, and eye-catching gestures, were often missing or limited in the writing process, so I became more focused on writing, which became my forte.

An appreciation for literature

I’ve loved literature since childhood. As a preschooler, I was interested in poetry and challenged myself to recite poems, and I won a poetry recitation contest at the time, showing my talent for creating literature. Of course, reciting and creating are two different things, but I was able to develop my creative talent by watching and listening to a lot. In elementary school, I began to compose and write my own poems, and I participated in many student poetry contests and won awards. In middle school, I was selected to join a literary writing club with a small group of people. We shared and appreciated each other’s work and developed a passion for literature, and I took the initiative to start and run a literary club in high school.
Seeing this, my parents encouraged me to pursue writing as a career, specifically as a copywriter. My parents worked in the advertising industry, so I was able to get advice from them. In high school, I worked hard to prepare for the entrance exams to enter the advertising and public relations department, and I pursued my career as a copywriter by completing relevant training. I was able to hone my writing skills throughout my college years by focusing on studying, organizing, volunteering, and participating in competitions.

Playing guitar and singing

I was active in a guitar-playing club in college, and after volunteering at a concert, I fell in love with music and dreamed of playing in a band. Although I didn’t play in a band myself, I played electric guitar or bass guitar in a club where I could learn to play guitar. Typically, guitar players are separate from vocalists, but I enjoyed singing while playing guitar. When I sing, I sing quietly with soft notes, but I was fascinated by the intense sound I could create through the electric guitar. I used to play especially soft rock or indie music, arranged in a rock style.
This activity of playing guitar and singing suited my aptitude, but I wasn’t good enough to take on a main role in a band, so I practiced on my own to improve my skills and organized my own performances. Instead of big performances like school festivals, I would perform on the street with a friend, usually playing percussion instruments like the jambe or drums, while I played guitar and sang or harmonized with him. I received a lot of support from people while practicing and performing, and I learned a lot from this process.
