College Seminar Instructor 3-Minute Speech
Good morning, everyone.
My name is ○○○, and I’m the president of the Environmental Protection Association.
I am very pleased to have the opportunity to speak to you on the topic of environmental protection in September, which marks the beginning of fall.
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your interest in environmental issues.
The Korea Environmental Protection Association has been continuously interested in environmental issues for more than 20 years since its establishment, with the goal of preserving the environment and improving the quality of life.
We have been actively involved in solving environmental problems not only in Korea but also internationally.
For example, we have investigated and exposed the reality of the four major river projects, published a brochure to provide direction for wetland preservation, and conducted environmental protection education activities in cooperation with international volunteer organizations.
In addition to this, we have also held various lectures and campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of environmental conservation and to spread the seriousness of environmental issues.
All of you gathered here today have a deep interest in environmental issues.
The fact that you, the future leaders of Korea, recognize the importance of the environment and are seriously concerned about it gives me great inspiration and hope. Just seeing you like this makes me feel that the future of environmental protection is bright.
Older generations often say that young people are indifferent to social issues.
But I don’t agree with that.
If the younger generation is indeed indifferent to social issues, then who are you here today?
This is something I notice every time I go on a speaking engagement. Because most of the people in the audience, in the room, and as volunteers, are young university students like you.
In 1992, the Rio Conference was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, bringing together representatives from countries and civil society organizations to discuss conservation.
Guess whose speech was considered the most influential at the time?
Surprisingly, it was a speech by Severn Suzuki, a 12-year-old girl at the time.
This young girl, along with her friends, flew 6,000 miles to Brazil with the money they raised through fundraisers, and then took the opportunity to speak in front of representatives from around the world.
The courageous voice of a 12-year-old girl resonated around the world, being named the most influential speech of the year.
If a 12-year-old girl’s voice could change the world, there’s no reason why you, at twice that age, can’t do the same.
In 2011, a massive earthquake caused a nuclear power plant to explode in Fukushima, Japan.
This resulted in a large amount of nuclear material leaking into the ocean, and you may recall that imports of Japanese agricultural and seafood products were banned for a time.
As you can see, environmental pollution is a very serious issue that directly affects our lives.
Therefore, we must continue to pay attention to it and seek solutions.
Environmental issues are directly related to our survival.
To preserve the environment, we all need to love the environment and do small things in our daily lives.
I sincerely hope that with your continued attention and efforts, we can pass on a clean homeland and environment to our children and grandchildren.
Thank you for listening.
3-minute speech by a college seminar instructor
Not long ago, I passed in front of a luxury store in a shopping complex.
Even after a heated debate over murderous prices, there was a long line of people waiting to see the luxury goods.
In fact, South Korea’s luxury craze is nothing new.
We see so-called “Chanel people” all around us who prefer “gold people” to “Chanel people”.
I can’t help but feel sorry for the salaried men who are treated as incompetent when their boyfriends don’t buy them luxury bags.
I can see some of you sitting in this room with bags that you’ve seen in luxury stores.
How did he afford that bag when the price of watermelons has increased by 50% while his salary has increased by 5%?
Of course, the bag and watermelon story is a joke. However, this phenomenon of rising incomes should be taken seriously.
It’s no secret that income polarization is on the rise.
According to data from 2008 to 2011, the income of households earning less than 1 million won per month decreased by 3.4%, while the number of households earning more than 6 million won per month increased by 1.1%.
In addition, private education expenditure for the highest income group is 15 times that of the lowest income group, indicating that the problem of polarization is not just about income and consumption, but also about education.
So how can we solve this polarization problem?
Will it be solved by giving up our $300 bags?
Or should we just tighten our belts and chant frugality?
Neither of these are fundamental solutions.
Polarization is now beyond the point where it can be overcome by individual efforts alone.
We need more active government intervention to solve this problem, and that’s where you come in.
In the past, universities were the centers of politics, and college students stood in the middle of it.
They risked their lives to bring about democratization and created a world where they could be heard.
It’s up to you, the next generation, to lead the charge to change our government and work to address polarization.
Economic growth, which creates jobs and stabilizes interest rates, plays an important role in reducing social polarization.
Even if economic growth is slowing down, we can’t afford to put off addressing polarization.
Polarization is a serious social issue that can lead to conflicts between members of society.
Therefore, it is imperative that governments and local governments take active efforts to address this issue.
And don’t forget that it is you who can bring about such changes.

Children think they are invincible.
They think they could fall off a roof and be fine.
When they grow up and become adults, they live by another illusion: that there’s nothing they can’t overcome if they have love.
Maybe it’s because they watch too many movies and TV shows.
In popular media, the protagonists always overcome difficulties and have a happy ending. But in real life, it rarely happens.
So, is it really true?
Does love really give us the ability to overcome any situation?
Will we never feel pain and always be happy, no matter what?
The answer is no.
And it has nothing to do with love, really.
At some point, we start thinking.
It starts with questions like: how old is he, what does he look like, what is his education, what is his family like?
It becomes a way to evaluate a person we haven’t even met, and it becomes a hierarchy.
It’s as if there’s a math formula for relationships.
We tend to look at people only in terms of “how many conditions are met”.
Is this really the way to build real relationships?
It doesn’t.
If you want to be in a relationship, you have to move beyond doubt.
You have to get out of your head.
And ultimately, you need to pour your love and energy into the person.
You want everything in the relationship to be what it should be.
The point is not just what he is, but what he is to you.
It’s what he means to you in your life and how his behavior affects you.
If he’s important to you, and you think there’s something about him that deserves your respect, then the relationship is already special.
But whatever truth you find, it’s not the end of the story.
Rather, it’s a new beginning for the relationship.
We can take this question even further.
Are these issues limited to male-female relationships?
Perhaps every relationship in life contains these concerns.
Whether it’s with family, friends, or coworkers.
Life isn’t always easy.
Every day we are faced with situations that are not always clear or pleasant.
What we need is understanding and respect, along with the emotion of love.
Love shouldn’t be the only thing that matters, but we don’t want it to be the only thing.
We shouldn’t forget that we are human beings who want to be happy as people before we are lovers, before we are business people, before we are employees.
If we think we have to put up with everything because we’re in love, we’ve lost sight of the fact that we’re just human.
We’re not supermen, we’re people.
So how should we live our lives?
There’s no right answer.
But at the very least, I hope we don’t forget who we are when it comes to loving and being in a relationship.
It’s about caring for ourselves, respecting the other person, and being present in each moment rather than looking for the perfect answer.
That’s the beginning of a relationship, and isn’t that how we find happiness?
3-minute speech by a college seminar instructor
How are you, everyone?
It’s the beginning of fall, and the leaves are changing color.
After a hot summer, how are you welcoming this fall season?
Freshmen are probably full of excitement for their first fall on campus, and seniors who are about to graduate may be busy writing their personal statements.
Time is fair to everyone.
For some, this fall will be a season of excitement, and for others, it will be a time of dread.
But, my friends, don’t regret the time that has passed, and don’t get swept up in the excitement of the time to come.
Excessive regret and expectations cause us to lose sight of reality.
If the excitement of first entering college blinded you to the dangers of the future, the fear of graduation can cause you to overlook the possibilities you have now.
This moment, my friends, is the most beautiful and promising time of your lives.
Don’t waste this precious time by getting caught up in the emotions of the moment.
Today, college life is closely tied to career preparation.
Choosing a major, a minor, and even clubs and activities are often viewed as a resume-building process.
Even student government activities are for the sake of a resume line-it’s no wonder college is called a career academy.
But with the romance and passion of college gone, so is the passion of students.
There is a widespread attitude of conformity, going to college because everyone else is doing it, and following the crowd in preparing for a job because everyone else is doing it.
Living in this state of apathy and lethargy, students are indifferent to social issues and even their own future.
If big companies are good, they aim for big companies, and if civil service is stable, they prepare for civil service exams.
The world demands individuality and creativity, but aren’t we just accumulating the same specs as if they came from a factory?
Think about the trees along the road you walk every day.
No two trees look alike.
No two flowers bloom on the same tree, and no two leaves fall from the same tree.
None of you are exactly the same.
Even identical twins have differences.
So why do you try to wrap yourself in the same wrapping paper and ribbon as everyone else?
Just as summer comes and goes, so does fall, and with fall comes winter.
For those of you who are about to graduate, you’ll be embarking on a new challenge, and for those of you who are moving on to your senior year, it’s another phase.
Just as each season brings newness, so too will your next season.
You’re just the only one who doesn’t know it right now.
We hope your next season is filled with your personality and passions.
And as you forge your own path, one step at a time, we wish you all the best in your youth.
Thank you for listening.
3-minute speech by a college student speaker
Hello, everyone.
It is a great pleasure to meet you here at this university, a symbol of youth and intellect.
You are in your golden 20s, how are you spending those precious years?
The college years are the last chance to gain a wide range of experiences before entering the workforce.
That’s why I often say to students.
“Think of it like you’re living your life on a time limit.”
I emphasize that every day should be filled with new experiences and encounters with unfamiliar worlds.
You know the term “five flavors,” right?
Sour, bitter, sweet, spicy, and salty-these are the five tastes.
They are said to symbolize the five human intestines.
Just as your body is healthy when you eat a balance of these five flavors,
your life will not only be full of sweet joys.
but also experience the challenges of bitter and spicy flavors.
In your beautiful twenties, you’re not only going to have sweet experiences,
but also the bitter, salty, and spicy experiences that make up the breadth of life.
The sad nights when you wet your pillowcase with tears, the days of despair when the sky seems to be falling.
will eventually become the nourishment of your life.
You only understand life as much as you experience it.
As a senior in life, I want you to enjoy and experience youth to the fullest.
Go anywhere. Whether it’s traveling or taking on a new challenge.
Dream big, even if it’s considered reckless,
and don’t be afraid to shed a few tears.
These days, young people are living in a world of unemployment and gritty realities, and they’ve lost their passion.
But, my friends, getting stuck in a rut is a sin against youth.
is a sin against youth.
Savor the various flavors of the world,
broaden your horizons and deepen your understanding of the world.
There’s no better time to experience the joys and delights of life
There’s no time like the college years.
It’s a pity to be in your twenties when you’re rushing through life.
Youth without dazzling memories is not youth at all.
So I’ll say it again, folks.
For once in your life, do things that only 20-somethings are allowed to do.
And with that, I wish you all a dazzling 20s, and I’ll end my talk.
Thank you.
3-minute speech by the principal at a university graduation ceremony
Hello, everyone.
Thank you all for attending the graduation ceremony of ○○ University.
Today is a big day for our graduates.
It seems like only yesterday that I stepped onto campus in March of my freshman year, feeling nervous and excited.
The friends and professors who were awkward at first are now warm and familiar.
They say ’til death do us part, but we won’t.
Because the time we’ve spent here together and the friendships we’ve made are not to be taken lightly.
After today, in our respective places, we will be there for each other.
The first steps into the world are fraught with fear for everyone.
Doing things we’ve never done before, meeting people we don’t know, and sometimes feeling vaguely anxious.
But friends, most of the fears we feel are actually just figments of our imagination.
The moment we realize this, fear will lose its hold on us.
Think of a baby learning to walk.
The baby falls over and over again, and eventually learns to walk.
Statistically, babies fall an average of 2,000 times before they start walking.
Because they’re not afraid to fall, they eventually learn to stand up.
World-class marathon runner Youngjo Hwang probably fell over 2,000 times as a baby before getting up and walking and running.
We can imagine that he went through countless challenges and failures before he became a world-class athlete.
Folks, falling down is inevitable in life.
But what matters is the courage to get back up every time you fall.
Don’t let small failures get you down, overcome your fears, and believe in yourself.
The experiences and lessons you gain along the way will make your life brighter.
Graduates, take pride in the name of our university.
Wherever you go, your passion and hard work will shine through.
I am confident that you will do your best in whatever position you find yourself in and build a successful life.
I would like to thank you all again for being here today,
and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Thank you.
3-minute speech to a university class
Good afternoon, dear classmates.
I’m here today to talk to you about the topic of “good habits”.
I realize that I may feel a little awkward because of my lack of speaking skills, but I hope that you will be brave enough to stand in front of me and give me your warm support.
I started working out in the morning a few years ago.
I was feeling disappointed in myself because of the weight I was gaining despite my young age, and I was determined to change my body and mind.
My friends who have seen me since the beginning of my freshman year know how much I have changed, not only in the way I look now, with my firm muscles, but also in the way I live my life with confidence and an energetic attitude.
My morning workout has a “slow as a turtle” principle.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed and give up after a few days because you’re too eager to see your body transform, but it’s just as easy to be greedy and overdo it. Your body is like a machine, and it’s important to warm it up in moderation, just like warming up a car. If you push yourself too hard from the get-go, you can wreck yourself.
In the morning, try stretching like a plant opening up to the sky.
You’ll feel your stiff muscles wake up. Next, gently loosen your joints, starting with your neck, shoulders, wrists, lower back, knees, and ankles. It’s also helpful to mentally organize your day’s tasks.
Morning workouts also energize the body and mind by triggering the release of the hormone adrenaline. Exercising on an empty stomach is also a great way to lose weight because it uses your body’s stored fat as a source of energy. With all these benefits, why would you skip your morning workout?
A study of the habits of successful leaders shows that they have something in common.
Early wake-ups, plenty of rest, and walks. Going for a walk helps you clear your mind and find some space. Just getting out of your head and letting go of the thoughts that are filling your head can be very energizing. I’ve found that this process has helped me feel more relaxed and energized in my life.
Everyone gets the same 24 hours in a day.
But for those who wake up at the crack of dawn, it feels longer and more precious.
Physical fitness is fundamental to this kind of life, so I encourage you, my classmates, to take a 30-minute walk in the morning to wake up your body and mind. After all, good things are shared.
The sun at dawn radiates powerful energy, and it’s the privilege of those who wake up to it.
If you want to feel energized in the morning, when everything comes alive, get moving tomorrow.
But don’t rush, take it slow and steady like a tortoise.
Remember, the beginning is half the battle.
Thank you for listening.
3-minute speech by a student in a university class
Good morning, everyone.
We are now standing at the difficult gateway to employment.
So, in this era of economic hardship and unemployment, what alternatives do we have?
Most companies these days are looking for creative talent.
But what is a creative person, and how can you become one?
Today, I’d like to define a creative person as someone who sees things differently and interprets them in a new way.
Of course, it’s hard to be recognized as a creative “talent” if your creativity doesn’t fit in with the goals of a group or organization, or if it doesn’t resonate with others, but if your uniqueness is convincing to others and can contribute to the organization, you will be recognized by society.
Let’s take the great artist Pablo Picasso as an example.
He was an artist who didn’t belong to an organization and worked alone, but he was able to make his world understandable to others, and as a result, he was recognized as a “genius” by people.
If you look at Picasso’s famous paintings, “The Virgin of Avignon” and “Guernica,” you’ll notice that the people and objects are not ordinary.
For example, the faces are facing forward but the noses are turned to the side, the eyes are exaggeratedly large, the faces are angular and the feet are unusually large. These unconventional representations shocked people.
Picasso realized that it was impossible to represent a person from a single point of view in a painting, so he tried to capture multiple points of view in three dimensions. This was an original approach that no one had ever tried before, and it marked the beginning of a new art movement called Cubism, which would lead to the birth of modern art.
What did you take away from Picasso’s story?
Two things are key to this story. First, that Picasso created his art from his own unique perspective. Second, that his perspective was so persuasive that it changed the conventional wisdom of art and led to the beginning of modern art.
You,
Whether we’re aiming for a corporate job or a career in another field, we need to look at things from a different perspective and viewpoint than others to be recognized as creative.
If you just learn and copy what everyone else is doing, you’ll never stand out.
You need to come up with original ideas, put them into action, convince others, and create value.
I believe this is what will make you a real talent that can be used in a variety of fields.
We are still young and have the passion and freshness to come up with new ideas.
All of you, including me, have the potential to bring fresh ideas to society.
If you start practicing thinking creatively now, and put it into practice, the day will come when you will be recognized for your talent.
Thank you for listening to my story.
Classroom presenter 3-minute speech
Hello, everyone.
Have you ever heard the word “Maktub”? It’s an Arabic word that means “it’s already written,” or a predetermined destiny. So, do you believe in destiny? Of course, some of you might say, “Well, isn’t destiny something you create?
What I’m going to talk about today isn’t about conforming to a predetermined fate, but rather about taking control of your life, your goals, and what we often call destiny.
Are you familiar with the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho? It’s such a popular bestseller that I’m sure many of you have read it at least once, and in it, Coelho has a profound message about destiny and the mindset of approaching it.
The Alchemist tells the story of the main character, Santiago, and his quest for treasure. In a nutshell, Santiago, a former shepherd, has the same dream over and over again one day. When he deciphers the dream, he’s told by his destiny that a great treasure awaits him. At first, he doesn’t believe it – he thinks his destiny is to be a shepherd. But when he meets an old man who claims to be a king, his words inspire him to sell his sheep and embark on a journey to Egypt.
Was the journey smooth sailing? Of course not, with many hardships and crises along the way. Santiago constantly doubted whether his choice was the right one and whether there really is such a thing as destiny. Nevertheless, he didn’t give up, as the world showed him countless signs to light his way. Eventually, he found the treasure of his dreams and fulfilled his destiny.
Does this story seem obvious? Maybe, but it’s not the story itself that matters, it’s the message behind it.
Everyone may have a goal, like a set destiny, but not many people believe in it and follow it to the end. Rather than just accepting it as fate, what if we rephrase it as a goal?
Let’s say you have a goal. Wouldn’t it be great if that goal came easily? But the reality is that it’s not. There will always be obstacles and crises along the way to your goal. When that happens, we falter and ask ourselves
“Is this really the right path?”
As Coelho says in the book.
“To those who eagerly follow their destiny, the world shows many indicators.”
In the end, it’s all about desire. You have to want it badly enough to achieve your goals. But no matter how badly you want it, the human mind is frail. After a few failures, there comes a point where you feel like giving up. That’s when you have to look for the indicators the world is sending you.
For example, let’s say my goal is to get a job at Company H. If I want it badly enough, the stories I hear around me about Company H, the news articles I read, the connections I make at Company H, and the news I hear about their hiring plans will all be indicators to me. But if I don’t want it badly enough, these indicators will just be passing information.
Folks, remember the word “marktoob” that I mentioned at the beginning of my talk, meaning a pre-determined destiny? Now replace that word with a goal that you’re eagerly pursuing. On the way to our goals, we’ll have many trials and tribulations along the way, but don’t be afraid – we’ll grow along the way, and the markers to fulfill our dreams will always be there.
Are you dreaming, and if so, want it badly.
If you want it badly enough, and don’t give up, you too will find your own treasure. Thank you.
Student announcement in a college class
Dear classmates, how many times have you laughed in the past year?
Do you know what the best brain exercise is, one that involves contracting 15 facial muscles simultaneously, and moving 203 of the 650 muscles in your body?
It’s laughter.
You’ve got a lot on your plate these days, and we’re wondering if you’ve lost your ability to laugh.
Is your girlfriend not the same?
Are you annoyed that you didn’t get paid for your part-time job on time?
Are you frustrated because your TOEIC scores aren’t going well?
One company’s ad has copy like this.
“If you live 80 years, you spend 26 years sleeping, 21 years working, 9 years eating and drinking, but only 20 days laughing.”
Nowadays, that’s about 20 days of joy in an eighty-year life.
However, laughing for just 15 seconds a day can add two days to your life.
There are also claims that 45 seconds of laughter can stabilize your blood pressure – hard to believe, right?
The point here isn’t just to live longer, it’s to have fun and be healthy while laughing throughout your eighties.
As you laugh, good fortune rolls in.
You’re more likely to win the jackpot with one more laugh than you are with a lotto ticket.
And when you laugh, you lose weight.
So don’t let diets get you down, laugh out loud and take care of your health and your smile.
Classmates, no matter how things are going, the circumstances we find ourselves in don’t change easily.
If we don’t change ourselves, negative situations will still flow negatively.
However, it is said that it is possible to have a positive mind with training.
Change the words you use, change your facial expressions, and you will naturally change your mind.
The quickest and easiest way to have a positive mind is to make laughter a part of your life – smiling and laughing out loud.
Remember, how much you laugh determines how much and how fast you release good energy.
Imagine you’re at the supermarket, pushing a shopping cart and loading it with goods.
You are the one who chooses to buy or not buy.
It’s the same with laughter.
It’s not about laughing because someone tells you to, it’s about laughing out loud because it feels good.
That laugh gives you the confidence that you can do anything, deep down inside, and it gives you the energy to look at everything in a positive light.
Now you too can experience the power of laughter to create positivity.
To my fellow students in our ○○Speech class, believe in the power of affirmations.
Smile brightly and laugh out loud, so that good things will come your way in the new year.
This concludes my presentation on the power of positivity and laughter.
Thank you.
Roundtable presenter 3-minute speech
Hello, my name is ○○○.
I listened to the panelist’s presentation against appearanceism, and I agree with him that appearanceism causes us to lose the opportunity to discover our true inner beauty. However, I also believe that external beauty is important.
I recently saw the results of a research firm’s survey of corporate human resources managers. When asked if they consider a candidate’s appearance as an important factor when interviewing, more than 50% of respondents said “yes,” with the reasons being that “looks are a competitive advantage” and “they are likely to be good at self-care.” Furthermore, when asked about plastic surgery for employment, the majority were in favor.
This is not to say that I don’t think inner beauty is important, and I agree that building knowledge, character, and virtue can be a standard of beauty. However, I don’t believe that external beauty should be viewed in a negative light.
We often question the phenomenon of conforming to media-created standards of beauty: high nose, big eyes, small face, ant-waist, etc. What I mean by the importance of appearance is not blindly following these standards.
If you gain confidence by overcoming your insecurities, for example through plastic surgery, this can have a positive impact on your inner beauty. Inner and outer beauty interact, and you shouldn’t ignore them.
In particular, there’s hardly a woman who hasn’t considered dieting, and while the reasons for doing so may vary, most likely it’s to gain confidence and achieve self-fulfillment through a more beautiful body, and self-fulfillment is an important factor in boosting confidence.
So, should we criticize people for striving to look good?
Before we can discuss the positive or negative effects of appearanceism, I think we need to define what “true beauty” is.
Thank you for listening.
University Speaker Author 3 minute speech
Good afternoon, everyone.
I couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to return to my alma mater to give this talk.
It’s a thrill to be here in front of you, in this school where I graduated, where I’m going to see all the landscapes that I’ve passed through in my young adult life. It’s a pleasure to be here.
People often ask me.
“How did you become a novelist?” and I can’t count the number of times I’ve been asked.
Even though I was a so-called “literature boy,” I never once thought I would become a novelist.
But the scent of literature and the beautiful words of literary authors that permeated my mind never left me alone.
The first thing that brought me close to literature was transcription.
Transcription, you know it, right?
It’s the practice of copying the works of famous literary figures or senior writers from start to finish.
Some people might ask.
“If you do that, isn’t that plagiarism because you’re copying their words?”
But folks, there’s a difference between imitation and plagiarism.
Imitation is the starting point of creativity, like a child imitating its mother, or, as Aristotle said in Poetics, taking things from the world.
No writer, no matter how great, could ever write a novel that was divorced from human life.
After all, imitating people and life is the essence of fiction.
Transcribing taught me how to write, how to connect and disconnect sentences.
One of my juniors once had a friend who struggled with the fear of the written word.
After years of immersing himself in transcription, he overcame his fear and is now in the midst of a second career as a novelist.
I’m sure this isn’t just true for fiction.
There are sure to be great predecessors on the path you want to take.
Walk the path they’ve walked first.
Their sturdy and magnificent paths will help you take the first steps toward your dreams.
Let imitation then become a solid foundation for creation.
My dear and precious juniors, thank you for listening to me today.
I sincerely wish you all the best in fulfilling all your dreams.
3-minute speech by a history researcher at a university talk
Hello, my name is ○○○, a history researcher.
I’m really happy to see you here today.
Giving a lecture is always accompanied by excitement and nervousness, but today the emotions are particularly strong.
The first reason is that I am giving a lecture at a university, the hall of truth and the flower of intellect,
especially in today’s competitive and busy world.
The second reason is that I have taken time out of my day to face all of you in this auditorium.
The sparkling eyes in the back of the room are what makes this moment even more special.
Intelligent, young people like you
are the future of this country, tomorrow, and Korea itself.
Everything in Korea is in your hands and in your hearts.
That’s why I’d like to make a loving request to you today through the topic of history.
You are familiar with the history of Korea, right?
After all, you are a student of the historic ○○ University,
you’ve already had a solid foundation in history.
But did you know that history isn’t just about memorizing past events?
History is, as E.H. Carr famously said, a conversation between the past and the present.
It’s not just a sentence, but a truth to be projected into our lives.
Have you ever stood in front of that history and asked yourself some serious questions about your life?
Where I came from, and where I’m going,
and how my life now relates to the past?
History is the record of all that is human.
In this sense, history is always present, and it touches our lives.
It’s not a distant past or a forgotten classic,
it’s here and now, influencing the way we live.
At this point, let me give you some examples from Korea’s history.
Among the great kings of the Joseon Dynasty, there are two kings who are called “icons of distrust”.
Seonjo and Injo.
Seonjo is considered to be a man who was extremely greedy for power.
He was far from a faith-based leader, suspicious of even his own children.
His capricious behavior affected the reign of the Gwanghae Navy,
and is often analyzed as the main cause of several missteps.
Meanwhile, Injo suffers a tumultuous reign and loses his pride and legitimacy as king,
and was even accused of poisoning his own son.
His reign is often characterized by diplomatic failures and internal unrest.
Their stories teach us one lesson.
The kings of the past don’t just live in the annals of history.
Their personalities and behaviors are being repeated in many ways today.
You may see a hero like Cao Cao in your own neighborhood,
or an underprivileged genius like Han Xin.
This shows that humans, by nature, cannot be completely cut off from the past.
So, my friends, I invite you to cross the gap between past and present.
I invite you to find your way through the history books.
Find answers to the questions we face today in our past lives.
Then the stories in the history books are not just records,
they will be a shining beacon for your tomorrow.
I look forward to your evolving intellect and insatiable curiosity,
I would like to conclude today’s talk.
Thank you.
University lecturer 3-minute speech
Good morning, everyone. ○○University students,
I’d like to thank you all for joining us today.
I know some of you have taken time out of your regular academic schedule to come to this talk today, and I hope it’s as meaningful to you as it is to me. I’m here because I feel a responsibility to tell you something that will help you.
You’re at a time in your life where you’re in the midst of designing your life and figuring out your direction. You have dreams and goals, and some of you may even have specific plans for how you’re going to achieve them, but too often we tend to play it safe and take the safe route. Today, I want to talk to you about an important virtue that you should have: courage and boldness.
Young man, dream boldly.
It’s a phrase we often hear from the elders in our lives, but what’s the truth? Our lives and times are too urgent and demanding to dream big. In the face of fierce competition and an uncertain future, we look for the easiest path. We’re tempted to take the path with the least chance of failure and the quickest payoff, but that path falls short of our true potential.
Not long ago, I read a book that introduced me to an amazing woman named Yin Yuzhen. In the middle of the barren Chinese desert, she created a forest of 14 million square meters. She did what most people would have given up on as impossible. Her daily labor has created an oasis in the desert, and life has sprung up. Can you imagine doing something like that?
We often think of an oasis as a gift from fate or luck, but Yin Yuzhen went beyond that. Her courage to create her own blessings resonates deeply with us.
Everyone, be courageous.
Even when people point fingers and dismiss you, those who dream and those who do end up changing the world. Your passion, your knowledge, and your possibilities are greater than you can imagine. Dream as big as the universe.
But courage is not the same as recklessness.
It’s not about jumping in headfirst, it’s about thinking about how you’re going to get there, and having the will to get back up when you fall. Young people today are more capable than ever before, but sometimes over-cautiousness gets in the way. It’s one thing to knock on stony bridges, but sometimes you just have to cross them.
In those moments when you hesitate, others take the first step, blazing new trails and becoming trailblazers. Only those who take the risk and go for it will reap the fruits of their dreams. I hope you will be one of them.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize once again.
Don’t put yourself in a box of impossibilities. Don’t shrink yourself from the possibilities by doing the math. Be reckless in the face of your dreams. It’s in recklessness that we discover our true power, and it’s what will make your name last in the world.
Thank you for listening. I look forward to seeing more courageous and passionate you.
Professor 3-minute speech to college students
Hello, college students.
It’s so inspiring to look into your eyes, full of youth and endless possibilities.
Please don’t forget that your fresh and beautiful youth is a great weapon in itself.
I’m late in introducing myself.
My name is ○○○, and I teach in the storytelling department at ○○ University.
I’m here today to talk to you about the immense power of stories.
I want to give you another powerful weapon in your arsenal.
Maybe the power of stories isn’t immediately obvious to you,
let me give you an example to help you understand.
A classic example of storytelling is often cited as
The story of the “passing apple” in Aomori Prefecture, Japan.
Aomori Prefecture is famous for its apple farming,
One day, a devastating windstorm and heavy rainfall wiped out the orchards.
Most of the apples were ruined, and the farmers were in deep despair.
But then someone started selling the remaining apples, labeling them “passing apples”.
The apples that survived the harsh climate were labeled
and gave it a story of courage and perseverance in the face of adversity.
The apples were a huge hit with test-takers, and they sold like hotcakes.
To this day, Aomori’s passing apples remain a local favorite.
Everyone, when you give a story to a seemingly ordinary object like this
they gain special meaning and tremendous power.
A more beautiful way of looking at the things around us,
That’s what storytelling is all about.
Storytelling is a powerful tool in its own right,
and its all-weather nature allows it to be applied to any discipline, whether it’s English, science, or the humanities.
Any discipline can add the power of storytelling to make it
you can reach your audience more easily and with deeper meaning.
So, my friends, this weapon I’m giving you today is truly omnipotent.
Your dreams will be different and varied.
Whatever they are, storytelling will make your dreams richer and more powerful.
So believe in the power of story.
Thank you for listening.
I hope you’ve gotten something out of this talk today, even if it’s just one line.
3-minute talk by a university lecturer
Good afternoon, university students.
I’m ○○○, your lecturer for today’s talk.
First, let me briefly introduce myself.
Nowadays, I live a “B-list life,” so to speak. I don’t work for a big company, I don’t have a billion-dollar salary, I don’t have a house in Gangnam, I don’t have a supportive family, I’m a freelancer, I sometimes go hungry, and I only remember getting first place once in elementary school.
So here I am, giving a talk at ○○ University, a gathering place of brilliant minds, and it’s pretty funny, isn’t it? I can already see some of you yawning and expressing your disappointment in me.
But one thing I can tell you, my friends, is that I’m happier than most people with an “A-list” life.
What I want to share with you today is the secret that the world is a beautiful place, and that you can have an A-grade happiness even if you have a B-grade life, even if you don’t have to compete for it.
What speed and stride do you normally walk at?
The slower you walk, the more you can see and feel.
People who run at the front of the pack tend to miss the beautiful things that pass by in life.
Let me tell you a story about a friend of mine.
He was a genius, always at the top of his class, even when he wasn’t studying, so he got into college at the top of his class, graduated at the top of his class, and after graduation, he went on to join a big company and walked on a solid foundation.
We were always envious and jealous of him behind the scenes.
But last year, he was diagnosed with lung cancer.
His lungs were no match for the endless stress of smoking nonstop, and the only “indulgence” he could afford was a cigarette, as he was stuck at work from 8am to 10pm.
Chemotherapy has changed my friend a lot: he quit his job, moved down to a place with good mountains and water, and is preparing to homestead.
While his choice may seem like a “downfall” to some, my friend’s face never looked happier.
His ghostly, hollow eyes were alive, and he had a smile on his face.
Although I live as a salaried lecturer, I try to take time out at least once a year to travel and spend a lot of time with my children. Photography is also a hobby of mine, and I go out with my members on sunny days.
It’s the simple things and the little pleasures that make my life richer.
I encourage you to slow down, too. Look around you, soak up the world with each step you take.
Take in the breeze on a nice day, or the scent of flowers on a spring day.
Look at everything with an open mind, and like a sprinter, smell the flavors of life that the first place runner never knows.
Don’t be the fool who looks for the four-leaf clover and misses the beauty of the countless three-leaf clovers.
Choose a life of happiness for your own sake rather than a life of ranking and showing off.
That’s the secret to happiness I’m sharing with you today.
That’s the end of my story.
I hope my words today make at least a small positive difference in your life.
Thank you for listening.
3-minute talk by a regular speaker at a diet community meeting
Good morning, everyone.
Today is the happiest day of my life. No, it’s the second happiest day of my life.
The happiest day was a month ago, when I stepped on the scale.
They say a woman’s life begins and ends with dieting.
Sometimes the media and social pressures encourage this.
Sometimes we see women who don’t need to lose weight crash dieting to be thin.
But for me, and for us, dieting wasn’t just a hobby or a luxury.
It was a survival.
I grew up being told that I was too thin,
By the age of 15, I weighed over 100 kilograms.
By the time I was 20, I was a behemoth, weighing close to 120 kilograms.
My body and I were not in harmony, and my health was threatened.
The yoke of ‘severe obesity’
Not only was it physically painful, leaving me out of breath after a short walk,
but it also caused me mental anguish.
As a result, I suffered from severe depression,
I lost myself in the middle of my youth, blaming myself and the world for my huge body.
I lost myself in the middle of my youth.
It was one of the great fortunes of my life that I met the diet group ○○.
The group didn’t recommend diet food or exercise equipment.
Instead, it was about meeting people and giving it your all as if it were your last,
It changed me forever.
The low-sodium, high-protein diet I got from the meetings,
Three hours of intense exercise a day,
and most of all, the belief that “I can be beautiful enough”
has given me a new lease on life.
Of course, the process wasn’t easy.
The hardest part was the battle against time.
Every time the number on the scale was slow to change, I became impatient.
Time would fly by, but the scale needle wouldn’t budge,
frustration would weigh me down.
But conversations with diet veterans helped me get back on my feet,
and their support helped me get back on my feet.
I lost 50 kilograms, and here I am today.
I’m often asked, “What was the best thing about losing weight?”
My answer is this.
“I feel like I got my rights back as a person.”
The right to be beautiful, and the right to love myself.
Before, I didn’t think I had that right.
But dieting has given me unlimited confidence,
and the courage to take on the world.
If there is anyone out there who is hesitating to get started, I want to tell you.
Believe in yourself.
And have the courage not to lose the battle against time.
Then anyone can start right now.
Thank you for listening.
I wish everyone the same happiness that I have.
Diet Club Speaker 3 minute speech
hello.
My name is ○○○, I live in ○○-dong.
When I heard that I was selected as a presenter, I was a little nervous, but I thought it would be very meaningful to share my daily exercise tips, so I prepared my speech with pleasure.
I’m on the fat side. But the way I look today is the result of a lot of weight loss already.
Before I joined this club, I was much more physically fit than I am now. Today, I’m going to share with you the story of how I went from “fat” to “fat” and how I got there.
On Sunday nights, I would often find myself slumped down on the couch, wondering, “How am I going to drag myself to bed?” My whole body would be exhausted, feeling muscle aches in my back, arms, shoulders, and legs, and I would say to myself, “I’m so tired.”
My wife, not knowing when she heard my self-talk, would respond with, “You’ve been working out all day, you deserve it.”
Every time I heard that, I would shake my head and think back to my day. I didn’t remember working out all day. I did small tasks in the front yard, like hauling dirt, pulling weeds, cutting grass, and raking leaves.
You might laugh at me for thinking that this was exercise. But I didn’t realize until later that working in the front yard for 50 minutes burns as many calories as 40 minutes of aerobics. Maybe my body knew this all along.
Yard work was the most consistent exercise in the world, I discovered.
After that, I started looking for more ways to naturally exercise in my daily routine, and there were more than I thought – for example, I always walked to buy diapers for my kids, and I planted a vegetable garden in the backyard to grow my own organic produce for side dishes.
When I started to incorporate exercise into my daily routine, my body didn’t seem to change for a while, but then I started to lose weight rapidly.
I believe that the most important thing to do with any diet is to stick with it for a long period of time, and incorporating exercise into your daily routine is the surest and easiest way to do it.
I highly recommend these methods to you as well.
Thank you.
3-minute speech by the president of the Association of Agricultural Engineers
Good afternoon.
I’m Mr. ○○○, President of the Agricultural Technologists Association.
Thank you very much for taking time out of your busy farming season to attend this conference.
Recently, the consumption of our agricultural products has been slowing down. Due to the influx of cheap imported agricultural products, domestic agricultural products with relatively high prices are not being chosen by consumers. As a result, many farmers are struggling. Perhaps this is to be expected, as it is natural for consumers to choose the cheaper produce if there is no difference in quality.
Now we need to create a competitive advantage for our produce.
We need to add a special value that sets it apart from cheap imported produce and makes it appealing to consumers.
You’ve probably heard of organic food.
Many consumers recognize that organic food is healthier and more nutritious. Studies have shown that organic fruits, vegetables, and grains are richer in vitamin C, iron, magnesium, and more than conventional produce. In addition, organic farming reduces soil erosion, minimizes its impact on global warming, and significantly reduces pollution.
Organic food is also free of genetically modified (GMO) produce, which is a big draw for consumers. At this point in time, organic food is the most obvious option to avoid genetically modified foods. In this era of growing concern for health and the environment, organic farming is a way to gain consumer trust and increase the value of our produce.
We plan to actively promote organic farming and educate consumers about the benefits of organic food. We will also provide information and concrete support to farmers who are interested in organic farming. If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We look forward to your active participation and cooperation.
Thank you.
3-minute speech from a senior citizen
Good afternoon,
I’m Mr. ○○○, a representative of the ○○ Village Elderly Association.
I am here today to share some health maintenance tips with you so that everyone can live a long and healthy life. I hope we can have a fruitful time together.
Let’s get straight to the point: in order to stay healthy, it’s very important to eat healthy foods. This means eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, as well as staples like rice, grains, and potatoes. Drinking enough water is also essential for good health.
Along with this, there is a word of caution: people often increase their food intake because they feel frail, which is not the right way to go. As we age, it’s important to moderate our food intake. This is because our bodies require less food as we age.
Another important health tip is regular exercise. By trying to stay active, you’ll have more energy, sleep better, and maintain a healthy weight. You’ll notice an improvement in your overall health.
Finally, even more important than the aforementioned diet and exercise is stress management. While moderate stress can be energizing, too much stress can take a serious toll on seniors, both mentally and physically. I encourage you to find ways to manage stress effectively and practice them.
It doesn’t take until you’re in your 50s to realize that your body isn’t what it used to be. I hope that the advice I’ve given you today will be of some help to you.
3-minute speech by a senior speaker
Good afternoon, everyone.
I’m so glad to see so many of you here today.
Our bodies are a battlefield, constantly being invaded by bacteria, viruses, parasites, and other foreign substances.
The best way to defend ourselves against these invaders is to strengthen our immune system.
So, what is immunity?
When an enemy invades from the outside, your body automatically kicks in its defenses to protect itself.
That’s immunity.
One of the most effective ways to build immunity is through vaccination.
Immunization is the process of intentionally introducing small amounts of pathogens into the body to train the immune system so that it is better equipped to fight off larger invasions in the future.
The end result is a stronger immune system with better functioning immune cells.
On the other hand, factors that can lower immunity include overwork, stress, alcohol, aging, cold, and pollutants.
Immunizations alone are not enough to fully protect your immune system, so moderate exercise and mental discipline are essential.
In fact, one study found that walking for 40 minutes five days a week doubled immunity in older adults.
Exercise can be broadly categorized into recreational and therapeutic.
It depends on what you’re exercising for, but in either case, it’s effective in improving your health.
The same goes for food.
There are gourmet dishes that are meant to be enjoyed, and then there are foods that are less flavorful but still have health benefits.
But it’s the home-cooked meals you eat every day that are truly healthy, not the dishes you eat once in a while.
The same goes for exercise.
Walking 10,000 steps a day or a brisk walk for 30-40 minutes is a very good way to exercise.
The most important thing is to do it consistently and not skip a day.
Thank you for listening.
