Sample cover letter for a college admissions interview

hello. I aspire to be a teacher who can truly care about students. I actually hated math in middle school, and I often complained to my friends that I didn’t understand why they were memorizing math formulas. After building a wall around math, I moved on to high school, where I met a math teacher who changed my life forever. He developed and taught math experiments that allowed students to get hands-on experience with complex math formulas and principles found in textbooks. Thanks to him, I began to enjoy math and my grades have steadily improved ever since. The joy I got from solving math problems, thinking about them from multiple perspectives, and finding the answers, made me fall in love with the subject. When my friends would ask me math problems and I would help them with the answers, I realized that teaching was a good fit for me, and I felt confident that if I became a math teacher, I could really enjoy teaching math.
My dream is to become a certified teacher and create math textbooks that organize math content and concepts so that students feel comfortable approaching math. In the United States, math is being transformed from a subject that involves solving problems on a blackboard to a subject that involves experiencing how math manifests in real life. In Japan, too, in order to get students interested in math, which is a basic science, we need to move away from math that simply solves problems to education that can be applied in real life. As a math teacher after graduating from a liberal arts college, I would like to focus my passion on developing and teaching fun math content so that students can approach math with real interest. I think being a teacher is a rewarding position that adds confidence to students. I want to be that teacher, just like my high school gifted teacher who introduced me to the fun world of math when I wasn’t interested in it. I want to be that kind of charismatic teacher who can instill confidence and a positive sense of self that you can do anything you set your mind to, and who can confidently present the reasons for that hope. Teachers have a great influence on the formation of students’ personalities, consciously or unconsciously. To teach students to have hopeful thoughts, a healthy outlook on life, and to live productive lives, it goes without saying that the role of a teacher, a person who can be seen and felt while living in the same space with them, is crucial. That is why teachers must first become true human beings.
As a future teacher, I strive to develop the right character above all else. If teachers have the right values, students will be able to form a positive mindset and grow into creative human beings by watching and learning from them. This is the end of my introduction.

Physical Education Applicant Personal Statement

hello. I am a graduate of Tokyo High School. I have been a good swimmer since I was young and have been recognized for my skills by winning many awards in various competitions. However, I found it harder than other students because I had to do both sports and study. Just as she was gaining confidence in her swimming and schoolwork, she suffered a knee injury that made it difficult for her to continue with her sport. Frustrated and discouraged by her inability to continue, she was encouraged by her teacher to volunteer at a special physical education class for children with disabilities who had difficulty performing even the most basic movements such as jumping and rolling. As I watched the special needs teachers work to bring the joy of physical movement to these children, I realized that I wanted to do something as rewarding as their work, and I knew that I wanted to provide opportunities for children with disabilities to play to their hearts’ content.
I want to go to the Department of Physical Education to hone my scientific knowledge of physical education, sports, and exercise so that I can become a physical education teacher at a special school after graduation. I want to become a physical education teacher with a wide range of sports skills and intellect after graduation. I don’t want to be a physical education teacher who simply guides students in physical education activities. I want to be a teacher who cares for students with a warm gaze and a sincere heart, with constant attention to keep them on the right path. I want to be a teacher who guides students on the right path of how they should behave and how they should live. And when I have a teaching career, I want to open a physical education classroom for children with disabilities and create a program to help them develop not only their health but also their social skills.
In the United States, there is a wide variety of special physical education programs for people with disabilities, and I hope to grow as a special physical education teacher who can provide a variety of exercise programs tailored to each individual’s characteristics and build a strong bridge between children with disabilities and the world. I am interested in many sports, from baseball, basketball, and soccer to swimming and skiing. For me, exercise is a friend that helps me to have a healthy body, perseverance, and a strong mind. When I started playing sports, I realized that the most important thing is to do the best you can within the given situation. There are no results without effort, so even if I’m not the best at something, I will try to get closer to my goals through constant training and repetition. That concludes my introduction.

Flight attendant applicant cover letter

Hello, I am a luxury service woman with a bright and healthy appearance. When I first saw the flight attendants with their neat hair and bright smiles politely greeting passengers on an airplane to the United States as a child, I never forgot that image for a long time. Even when I was deciding on my future career path, that memory always remained in my heart, and I always had a dream of becoming a flight attendant. So I applied to the Airline Operations Department at Japan Aviation College, which would be a stepping stone to fulfill my unlimited dreams, and I was proud to receive an acceptance letter.
I entered aviation school and studied and worked hard for three years before applying to Japan Airlines to show my parents, the people I love and respect the most in the world, what I am capable of as a competent and friendly flight attendant. I used to be somewhat shy and introverted, but I’ve worked hard to fix my introverted personality by having the opportunity to present in front of a large number of people or meet many people and have extensive interpersonal relationships. As a result, I now have a lively and bright personality.
I’ve always had the idea of “be proactive and strive with great enthusiasm” in my mind. When I try to do something, I set out to do it with the confidence of “I can do it!” Of course, sometimes I fail, but even if I fail, I don’t regret it because it gave me the opportunity to try to do what I really want to do. It is said that winners look ahead even if they fall down on the way, but losers look down. I will always strive to be a person who is proactive and enthusiastic in everything I do, with the confidence of not being afraid of defeat. For me, Crew is a dream, an excitement, and a challenge. I’ve always loved helping others, so it’s been a longtime dream of mine to do a job where I can help as many people as I can, like a flight attendant. Being a flight attendant is exciting because I can adapt well to any place and I’m very curious about new things, so I get to travel around the world and experience different cultures. With my outgoing and sociable personality and various service experiences, I’ve realized that a service job is what I can do best, so being a flight attendant is the most wonderful challenge.
I would like to challenge myself to do whatever I can to make Japan Airlines shine. For example, I will quietly fulfill my role as a model for Japan Airlines or as a helper for various events in my assigned position. In particular, I will contribute to increasing the value of Japan Airlines by becoming a flight attendant. I would like to have the opportunity to work with great seniors at Japan Airlines and cooperate in the growth of Japan Airlines. I will do my best to become an ever-improving person through constant self-improvement after joining Japan Airlines. Thank you.

High school student personal statement for university entrance interview

hello. My name is ○○○ and I am applying to the Business Administration program. I am full of excitement and fear because this is the first step towards my dream. I hope that the studies and readings I have been doing on my own will be the nourishment for today.
My motto is “A doer.” I believe that thinking about something without doing it is like looking at the stars in the sky. I think the right attitude is to actively climb the ladder and reach up to grab the stars. The reason why my motto is “A doer” is actually because I am weak-willed and worry about what if I give up because I only think about it. I know and recognize my weaknesses, so I always try to push myself.
My parents emphasized that “your life is your own, you have to make it work for you.” So I grew up with the idea that my life is my own, and I learned to be independent. I also learned to take responsibility for my own decisions and accept the consequences.
All of my close friends are enterprising and adventurous, and they inspire me to never rest on my laurels, to look to the future and always think about how I can improve myself. My drive to act on my thoughts sometimes leads to mistakes, but I’m responsible enough to see things through to the end. I try to always think like a professional, even though I’m immature and an amateur. I also want to be a person who blends in with the people around me, adjusting my strengths and weaknesses depending on the situation. I want to be a trusted person who can make sound judgments with accurate and professional knowledge, from the perspective of others rather than myself, and from the perspective of the underdog. I hope that the University of Tokyo will be my reliable first stepping stone, and I am confident that I will do my best to fulfill my dreams for the school. Thank you.

A brief college student cover letter for a part-time job interview

hello. My name is ○○○. I am currently enrolled in the Department of Business Administration at the University of Tokyo, and I am a university student who is broadening my horizons through various experiences. If I had to describe myself in one sentence, I would say that I am a person who enjoys challenges and reflection. I always value experiencing and learning new things, not only in my studies but also in my daily life.
I love to travel, usually with friends, but sometimes I pack my bags and go on my own. When I’m facing a complicated problem or feeling stressed, traveling alone allows me to reflect on myself more calmly in a new environment. Traveling gives me the opportunity to see myself in a different light than I do in my daily life and to be objective about myself. This allows me to look at the problems I need to solve from a new perspective, and as a result, I feel like I’m able to make better decisions. I value the time I spend reflecting on myself and facing my inner problems every day. I believe that taking time for yourself, even if it’s just a few minutes out of your day, will help you grow in a better way.
Although my major is business administration, I am actually very interested in languages. When other students were studying English to prepare for the TOEFL exam, I was intrigued by the language itself, rather than the score. I believe that learning a new language is more than just mastering the words, it is a process of learning a new culture and way of thinking. Although I didn’t take any classes or special training, I have consistently studied on my own and improved my English to the point where I can hold simple conversations with foreigners. This experience has helped me to adapt easily to new environments and develop the ability to communicate with people from different cultures.
I tend to do my best in things that I am passionate about, while sometimes neglecting other things. I think this is both my strength and something that needs to be compensated for. I would like to further develop my strengths and compensate for my weaknesses to achieve balanced growth. I would like to utilize this personality in this part-time job to do my best in my work and fill in the gaps through learning and development. Thank you.

Chef Personal Statement

Hello everyone, my name is ○○○ and I am applying for a job as a chef at a restaurant in Tokyo. I started dreaming of becoming a chef when I was sixteen years old. I used to make hot and sour soup by finding recipes online and making it myself, and while I enjoyed cooking it, I was very happy and rewarded when I saw my family enjoying it.
I started learning to cook in earnest when I was in high school. I wanted to learn Japanese food, but my school only had a baking course, so the first cuisine I learned was baking. I got my baking certificate and started working at a Tokyo bakery. I’ve been working there for three years. My first job was at an Osaka bakery, where I learned the basics of cooking, such as hygiene, organization, and knife skills. The chef was a chef at a famous hotel, so he was very strict about these things. I think hygiene and organization are just as important as cooking, and I think it was a good opportunity for me to learn these things strictly at my first job.
My second job was at a hotel in Nagoya, where I cooked mainly Korean and Western food. It was always busy because it was understaffed, but I was good at judging what to do first, no matter how much work there was, so I was able to get things done quickly. I got a lot of compliments from people around me because I was able to do a lot of work quickly and keep things neat and tidy.
The place I work at now is a Japanese wedding restaurant. I mainly cook Korean and Chinese food, and it’s unfortunate that I only have a limited menu for weddings because guests rarely come back after one visit. That’s why I’m applying for a job at a Tokyo restaurant this time, because I want to cook a variety of foods. I’m confident that I can do a good job, even if it’s hard, because it’s my job. I really hope I can work with your company. Thank you.

New employee welcome party A senior member of the finance team introduces his work

Hello, everyone, I’ve been looking forward to seeing the talents and skills of our newest recruits, and it’s even better to meet them in person. I’m from the finance team. First of all, I’d like to congratulate you on joining our company and briefly describe our finance team. The finance team is divided into accounting and management. The accounting part is mainly responsible for accounting work, such as closing the books, and the management part is responsible for processing financial information to analyze, forecast, and advise the business on the way forward.
The finance team does two main things. The first is to organize performance databases and manage data and systems, and the second is to organize, analyze, and report on inventory. In addition to the monthly tasks described above, analyzing and reporting on issues as they arise is also an important part of the management part. To put it simply, in the case of inventory or performance submission, you can think of it as organizing the situation into an Excel file or PPT.
Yesterday, a new employee asked me this question: “What’s the best thing about the finance team?” I’m here today to answer it. I think the best thing about the management part of the finance team is that we are the first to know the current situation of the business unit and set the direction. We organize most of the key materials, such as reports for executive meetings, so we can know that information faster than anyone else. In other departments, sometimes you can only think about your own work, but in our department, you can have a broader perspective through this information. It’s good to be able to analyze the business and see as deeply as you want to see how the business works, how the profit and loss is, and what needs to be improved.
In the beginning, I had a white is paper, black is numbers mentality, and I was just focused on making sure I didn’t make any mistakes, and I was busy creating materials with those numbers, no matter what the profit or loss was. My manager said, “Anyone can do that kind of mechanical work. We need to look at those numbers and figure out what’s wrong with the business and how to improve it,” and I think that’s something that not only I need to take to heart, but all the new people here. It’s not easy at first, but if you love the business and try to analyze it with an executive mindset, you’ll find yourself becoming a business unit financial expert.
I think I’m lucky to be in this team because sometimes it’s embarrassing when you don’t agree with what they’re saying, but I think what they’re saying is really good direction, at least in my field, because I agree with what they’re saying and their vision, so I try to work towards that direction and I’m very happy about that. Coming from a Japanese background, I never really studied finance, and I didn’t even know if I liked numbers, but when I started working, I found it more interesting than I thought. I became curious about what the information that comes out of crunching numbers about profit and loss means. I became interested in how the company I work for is going to move forward. I really enjoy thinking and making decisions about what information I need to provide to other departments at the right time.
To all the new recruits, I know it’s hard to adjust at first because of the unfamiliar work environment, but there are a lot of fun things to do when you join the finance team. Please ask the seniors a lot of questions and enjoy your time here.

Introducing the contestants of the cooking contest

hello,. I am a chef who participated in this cooking contest as a Japanese representative. Success is winning the battle with yourself. This is a saying that I have always held close to my heart while cooking.
I first became interested in cooking when I was in the third grade of junior high school. I saw Japanese chefs winning international culinary competitions on the media and thought, “I want to do that too!” I asked my parents to send me to a cooking school, but they rejected my request, saying, “Why would a man want to cook?” However, I didn’t give up and saved my pocket money to buy cookbooks and studied cooking on my own. Fortunately, my passion for cooking was so high that my parents encouraged me to study cooking to my heart’s content from my first year of high school. After finishing school, I went straight to the culinary institute and spent more than three to four hours in class every day. I often felt regretful thinking, “Why am I struggling so much while my friends are studying easily?” However, I thought that I could get a better future by going the way others don’t go, and after winning the battle with myself, I was able to excel in cooking competitions.
I think the joy I feel when I complete a piece of work after dozens of failures is the charm of cooking. I would like to continue this passion for cooking and become a representative chef of Japan. In the future, I plan to study abroad at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), a famous culinary school in the United States. I want to become a world-class chef and create a restaurant that can be featured in famous restaurant guides abroad.
What do you think is the fascination of cooking? I think cooking has the “coolness and fun of creation.” The process of mixing and changing different ingredients into a single creation is very mysterious to me. Being able to make delicious food with my own hands and make other people happy is also part of the appeal of cooking. Of course, it’s also physically challenging because you’re on your feet all day and there’s a lot of movement. But as hard as it is, I think cooking is a lot of fun and rewarding, and in the future, I want to be a chef who cooks my dream dishes.

Part-time contract college instructor cover letter for full-time faculty appointment

hello. I am ○○○, a part-time college lecturer who applied for this adjunct professor position. It seems like only a few days ago that I vowed to be a wise college student who looks ahead to the future and prepares for it, not just a college student who lives day by day. Even though I’m already in my 50s, I’ve always lived with the mindset of preparing for what’s to come. I’ve always had the attitude of not being satisfied with the present and working harder to prepare myself in advance so that I can cope with whatever circumstances I find myself in.
Having played the piano since childhood, I had a natural talent for music, even learning to play the chroma harp. However, due to financial burdens and unclear prospects, I gave up on entering a music school and enrolled in a university of education. After teaching for eight years, I suddenly looked back on the time that had passed and felt empty. I decided that working in the field of music, where I could utilize my childhood talent, would be my last chance in life, and enrolled in the Department of Practical Music at the University of Tokyo in 2001. After graduating from university, I decided that I needed to study more systematically, so I enrolled in the Department of Voice at the Graduate School of Music in Italy. In order to gain a broader experience, I attended the Summer School at the Rome Conservatory of Music in Italy. After graduation, I worked as a musical director and vocal trainer for musicals at the request of my benefactor. I worked as a lecturer in the Department of Voice at Osaka Conservatory of Music, where I accompanied voice students on the piano. At the same time, I taught piano to undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, I participated as a professional instructor in summer music camps for music majors in Korea and abroad.
During my time as an assistant professor at Osaka University of Music, I realized that the process of conveying my experiences and theories to students was uniquely rewarding. I realized that while it was very meaningful to develop my own skills as a purely artistic person without going down any other path, it was also something that I felt I had to do with a sense of mission to nurture future dreamers. As a part-time instructor, I taught students how to start from the essence of music and connect it to their inner selves, and how to connect body movement and sound. I also worked hard to motivate and study my own musical growth before teaching others, so that both my students’ and my talents could blossom together. Being a teacher who guides students from different parts of the country to grow musically is in line with my aptitude, but I also realize that it is important for me to be able to stay in one place and focus on talented students, rather than being responsible for students from different schools as a contract part-time instructor. If I am hired as an adjunct professor at your school, I promise to work towards building a new model of piano education. I will guide the juniors on a good path while endeavoring to establish exchanges between music students and professional performers.

Chinese Department Candidate Self-introduction

hello. I am a high school student who applied to the Chinese Department. My motivation for applying to the Department of Chinese was Chinese martial arts movies. In middle school, my brother and I were fascinated by Chinese martial arts movies and watched one movie a day. After relying on subtitles to watch the movies, I suddenly realized that I could enjoy the movies more if I knew Chinese, so I studied Chinese on my own. I have been fascinated by Chinese ever since, and in my sophomore year of high school, I won the grand prize in the high school division of a Chinese oratory contest held by the University of Tokyo. I was judged to have impressed and entertained the audience with my speech titled China and Red. Having started studying Chinese at a young age because I liked it, I was not satisfied with just having access to it as a foreign language. I became interested in studying the Chinese-speaking world more broadly, and I was convinced that if I could do something that was related to China and that utilized a lot of Chinese, I could do it with pleasure and great fulfillment. I think that all majors, but especially Chinese studies, are so vast that I can’t see an end point in sight even if I continue studying until the day I die, but I think that’s the biggest attraction of the discipline, so I will work hard to put myself in the best position possible.
First of all, when I get into the Chinese department, I would like to get various trainings so that I can have a basic understanding of Chinese studies and practical work, because I don’t have a basic knowledge of Chinese studies, and I plan to participate in Chinese current affairs discussion studies and actively participate in original language lectures on Chinese trade and economy. And I will meet people from different fields to have a broader perspective, because if I focus on one field, I may become complacent and lose the ability to see a broader view. As an undergraduate, I would like to study for a certificate as an international conference planner by going to an international conference professional training center and preparing for it step by step. In the future, I would like to become a student who can study a wide range of regional affairs in China and develop practical skills to exchange information quickly and accurately with Chinese speakers. I would like to become an international trade researcher and show off my skills in the vastness of China. I would like to provide research, consulting, and legal advisory services in the field of trade and investment to government agencies as well as domestic and foreign companies, and contribute to facilitating communication between Korea and China. This concludes my introduction.

Paper Conference Speaker Introduction

hello. I’m ○○○, the paper presenter. I presented at the conference yesterday in a session titled “The Impact of the Coronavirus”. I’m usually extremely reluctant to speak in front of people, but my advisor, who is the organizer, encouraged me to do so. At first, I rejected his suggestion, but I finally convinced him to let me present. After the presentation, I understood why my professor was so insistent on getting me to give the presentation. I finally understood his deep meaning of emphasizing people over knowledge. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for always guiding a weak student in a good direction.
Many of you here have long established names in your fields. However, I was called here because there are not many examples of my papers in Korea, and I’m sure there were several attendees who had a hard time listening to my presentation that day, and I would like to apologize and thank them. I was battling a cold that came on suddenly last weekend, and my low, raspy voice made it difficult for many of you to understand me, but I’m glad you stuck with me. I wish I had more time, but I could have gotten exhausted trying to cover a lot of issues, so thank you for putting up with my grueling presentation.
This conference was a great event for young scholars to present papers based on their areas of expertise and discuss with each other. I think the conference is a place for learning information and knowledge, building relationships and exchanging feelings among scholars. You can study on the internet, but you can’t get the pleasure of empathizing with a researcher from the other side of the world. I was especially happy to see so many researchers I admire, including the senior professors of the conference, and I ended the conference with a lot of learning from them.
As a result of participating in this conference, I will continue to sharpen my knowledge of basic research and produce good research results. I will continue to work harder on my virus research and seek advice from the distinguished researchers, and I hope we can build a strong relationship in the future. This concludes my introduction.
