Are you preparing a classy and inspiring speech for your inauguration? In this article, we’ll give you sample inauguration speeches for different occasions and tips on how to write them. Prepare a speech that will leave a lasting impression on your audience and ensure a successful inauguration!
Sample inaugural season greeting
Good evening, everyone.
I’d like to thank all of the fund managers, head coaches, and CEOs for attending my inauguration today. I wish you all the best for your future endeavors.
First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for your trust and encouragement in me as Chairman of ○○ Group. It has been ○○ years since the founding of ○○ Group, and through our collective efforts, we have been able to establish ○○ Group as a world-class company, all thanks to the dedication of everyone here.
When we first started ○○ Group, we walked together with the cherished values of “protecting the weak, respecting life, and realizing peace.” As a result, we have grown into a strong company that can stand shoulder to shoulder with Berkshire Hathaway. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who have been with us all along the way.
Now, in this new role, I have an important task: to rebuild harmony and unity within the company. The biggest threat to the company comes not from external competition, but from internal discord. While it can be viewed as a “growing pains” that comes with rapid growth, in the current climate, internal divisions can be a serious problem that threatens the survival of the company.
As long as I lead as CEO, I will not tolerate any internal divisions, and if there is anything that hinders the company’s progress, I will correct it in a principled manner, without exception, no matter who is in charge. I hope that we can all remember our common goal of “protecting the weak, respecting life, and realizing peace” and work toward it.
This slogan is the fundamental value of the ○○ Group, and it is an important orientation that should remain at the center of our group in the future. I hope that you and I will not forget this goal and will continue to challenge ourselves to the end.
Thank you for joining us today.
Presidential Inauguration
Good morning, everyone.
It is a great personal honor for me to be here today to greet you and to assume the role of CEO, but I also feel a great sense of responsibility. Our company operates an important part of one of the country’s key industries, the electric power supply system, and we are responsible for providing a stable power supply to the people and society beyond simply pursuing corporate profits.
In recent years, the electric power industry has undergone unprecedented and rapid changes. Environmental regulations have been tightened with the entry into force of the climate change agreement, and the current government’s green growth policy is also calling for more stringent eco-friendly power generation. In particular, setting the future direction of thermal power plants that use coal as the main fuel is a major challenge. These changes are certainly challenging, but they also present us with new opportunities, and it’s time for all of us to work together for sustainable growth and innovation.
I would like to emphasize three important challenges in this context.
First, we need to stay true to the basics and further strengthen our corporate profitability. It is important to ensure the stable operation of existing power generation facilities, which will enable us to increase their efficiency and thereby enhance profitability. To this end, we will develop a consistent evaluation system for each business unit so that performance can be fairly reflected in personnel and compensation.
Second, we will create a company that is resistant to change through continuous management innovation. We will continue to advance our management to keep pace with the rapidly changing industrial environment. By introducing new technologies and management methods, we will create a system that produces and manages electricity efficiently, and by adopting management policies that are in line with the latest trends, we will lay the groundwork for our development and progress.
Third, we will recreate a corporate culture of trust and harmony. A workplace culture where employees trust and support each other is crucial for corporate success. To this end, we will create an environment in which we can understand and communicate with each employee’s thoughts and feelings, and unleash the full creative potential of every member of our organization. By engaging in frank dialogues and accepting diverse opinions, we will create a corporate climate that is open, innovative, and unafraid of change. I believe this culture will also play an important role in ensuring that our company practices transparency and ethical management.
Dear family, it is time for us to once again tighten our shoelaces and prepare to take on new challenges. We must not rest on our laurels or fear failure, but boldly step out of our comfort zone of the status quo and take a step forward with a new and broader perspective. I am confident that if we renew ourselves every day, every moment of every day, our company will surely grow to the next level.
Together, we can get through this.
Greetings from the President of the Construction Workers Association
Honored members of the ○○Construction Workers Association!
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for trusting me once again and electing me as your president. I am deeply grateful to all members for their dedicated efforts for the association, and I pledge to do my best to live up to their support. Your active participation and generous encouragement have made our association what it is today. I will use this opportunity as an opportunity to take a new leap forward and do my best to further develop the association.
Now that I have been re-nominated to serve as the second president, the past ○ years of founding and leading the association are passing by like a flashlight. The early years of the association faced many difficulties and challenges, but it was a precious time when we overcame them by sharing all the joys and sorrows with you, the members. In particular, we went through many twists and turns together to build the foundation of the association and strengthen its foundation to the current foundation, and in the process, we realized the value of strong camaraderie and cooperation.
I have also worked hard to improve the association over the past term, but there are still many things I would like to improve. It’s been a busy year without any major accomplishments, but I want to thank you again for your trust and election, and I promise to repay you with even more tangible results this time around. I see this re-election as a call for us to build on the foundation we have laid and grow even more, and I will listen to each and every one of you to make sure we do just that. We will build an association that we can all trust and be proud of.
Just as a building can quickly collapse if its foundation is not strong, we must focus on its substance rather than its appearance, and we will strive to build an organization that can gradually develop under these principles. If the goals and direction of the association are clearly established and a solid foundation is laid to realize them, the ○○Constructors Association will become a reliable support and guide for its members.
Honorable members!
The current economic downturn is shaking the foundations of all industries. The construction industry is also facing many difficulties in the aftermath of this economic situation. However, this adversity will give us an opportunity for greater growth and unity. If we clarify the association’s operational goals and plans, and all members unite around them and support each other, we will be able to overcome any challenges that come our way.
Our ○○-year old association is firmly rooted in its roots, so we will not be shaken by these difficulties and will grow even more. When we stand up from the difficulties we are facing now, the experience will become an asset for the association and will boost the confidence of all of us. If we all come together as one and overcome this crisis wisely, the future will be even brighter.
The most important thing in preparing for the future is unity and togetherness. With a united mind, let us develop into a global association that plays a leading role in the era of internationalization. As the construction industry is an important part of the future growth engine, the role and position of the association will become even more important depending on how we prepare and respond from now on. I and the entire executive team will do our best to make the association a recognized and trusted organization in Korea and abroad, and to make all members feel proud to be a true partner.
Lastly, as I begin my new term, I would like to take this opportunity to pledge that I will once again prepare myself and do my best for the development of the organization. I ask for the love and encouragement of our members, and I promise to grow the organization with your support. Let’s create a bright future for our organization together.
Thank you very much.
Inaugural speech by the President of the Korean Institute of Architects
We are on the threshold of summer, and as we enter June, the weather is heating up even faster. I am excited to begin my new role in this changing season.
Have you ever heard the saying, “If you act on just 1% of your thoughts, you’ve succeeded in life?” It’s a phrase I stumbled across in a book, and it resonated with me so much that I wrote it down and read it once a day to remind myself of it. But it’s not always as easy as it sounds. Turning thoughts into action seems like a simple thing, but when you put it into practice, you realize that it’s not.
Every time we make a plan, we prepare to start something, and we think deeply about it. Of course, it takes just as much intense thought and thorough preparation to make something happen, but we often waste so much time overthinking and unnecessary preparation that we miss the moment of action. What are you thinking about right now, and what do you think it will take to make it happen? Action and determination.
Folks, it’s June, the humidity and temperatures are rising, and it’s easy to get burned out. However, it’s during this time of year that the ability to take action and keep moving forward is paramount. In 20@@, I made a promise to myself that I would put even 1% of my thoughts into action, and the result of that promise is that I will be the president of the Korean Institute of Architects. I am deeply honored by the expectations and encouragement of all of you, and I feel a heavy responsibility. I pledge once again in front of you that I will be a president who is dedicated and practicing for our architects.
We, who have been thinking and practicing architecture for a long time, know better than anyone else where the current state of architecture is. In the rapidly changing global economy, the position of Korea’s architecture and construction industry is becoming narrower and narrower, and this difficulty will continue for some time to come. In order for us to survive in this situation, we need a strategy to truly live, and a strategy to receive social trust.
It is an important task of our association to study and prepare survival measures for architects. These problems cannot be solved by the efforts of just one individual or a few people. We will need to be creative and positive, and make rational and sober judgments. I believe that all architects will realize the need for change and work together to solve this problem wisely. I promise that we will come up with practical measures that can touch the skin of architects, and that the association will be a strong support for architects.
Just as gravel, sand, cement, and water must be properly combined to make strong concrete, we architects must cooperate, respect each other, and work together as one. If all the gravel architects and sand architects in the country come together as one, and the association is the water and cement that binds them together, we will be able to make both architecture and architects into super-strong concrete. Together, we will be able to overcome any difficulties.
I ask for your faith and support. And I will respond to you with enthusiasm and practical achievements. I will do my best for the development of the association and the prosperity of architects. Thank you.
Police Chief’s Inaugural Message
Greetings, my proud police colleagues, and my fellow officers and former officers.
I am Chief of Police ○○○, who will be in charge of policing the ○○ area with you from today. I remember having a rewarding time working with you when I was appointed as Chief of the ○○ Police Department ○ years ago. It is truly an honor to be with you again, and I feel a special connection. As I reflect on my first year, I pledge to take on even more responsibility and do my best to protect our community.
The most important reason for the existence of the police is to protect the safety and tranquility of the public. I believe that creating an environment where citizens can live in peace is our top priority. To this end, we must be impartial in our law enforcement and always be sensitive to ensure that the weak and marginalized are not disadvantaged. I believe that actively implementing pro-citizen policing policies and listening to the voices of the people is the role of the police and the path to a just society.
I would like to make a request to you. Please offer a warm word to citizens who are bewildered and frightened by crime, be fair to suspects who complain of injustice, and be careful not to over-investigate or engage in unnecessary harshness for the sake of small gains. Each of our actions leads to the trust of the people, and I would appreciate it if you would take a proactive stance in protecting human rights.
In addition, communication and harmony within the organization are of utmost importance. Only a tightly knit organization can be strong, and this is an important engine of our policing. If we can create an atmosphere of compromise, consideration, and respect, we can all be excited and proud of our workplace. I am confident that the passion and capabilities of each individual will ultimately drive our law enforcement services to the next level.
I am always ready to listen to the voices of those of you out in the field. I promise to listen to you with an open mind, talk to you about any challenges or suggestions you may have, and support you to do your best work.
Over time, we will learn more about your neighborhoods and work to make them even better, and your cooperation and commitment will be invaluable.
Once again, it is a great pleasure to work with you, and I sincerely wish you all happiness and good health at home and work. Thank you.
Inaugural Principal’s Season’s Greetings
Good morning.
It’s almost the end of winter. This winter has been unusually cold, but just one month from now, we’ll be in March, the month that heralds spring. Spring is not far away, but the weather is still chilly. The colder the winter, the warmer the spring will be. Once winter is over and the warmth returns, it will be a season of new beginnings for all of us.
February is a month to make sure we’re still on track with January’s mindset, and it’s also a month to wrap up the season, which holds a lot of meaning because it’s the shortest month of the year. It’s also an important time to get ready and organized for the upcoming school year, and I’ll be doing everything I can to make sure our students and teachers are ready for a new year and a new environment with even more enthusiasm and determination.
I, ○○○, am the principal of ○○ School, and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the new school year that is about to begin.
I have been thinking deeply about “how to create a school where students are happy?” and “what do students really want?” Based on my experience as an educator, I would like to provide an environment where students can not only acquire knowledge but also learn valuable life values and develop their individuality.
First of all, I will strive to realize 21st-century creativity education according to each student’s individual abilities, so that students can experience the joy of learning and growth. Nowadays, information and technology are changing rapidly. I embrace this change positively and will help our students develop the ability to learn and explore on their own in this era. For example, I will introduce project-based learning and discussion-based learning to help students take the lead in their own learning.
We will also help students create a good and desirable student culture by providing activities and opportunities for our students to act with good character and a sense of community, not only in school, but also in society. For example, we will organize community service activities and environmental protection campaigns to help students learn the value of living together.
For many students at ○○ High School, we will strive to provide an education of hope that nurtures dreams, rather than an education for the SAT exam. We will expand our programs to include arts, sports, and character education, in addition to academics, so that students can fulfill their potential. We will support every student in our school to set their own goals and visions and take steps toward achieving those dreams.
And for teachers, I will strive for a communicative and caring educational administration that will rekindle the passion and sense of mission they had when they first joined the profession. We need student-teacher communication to keep our schools on the right path. I will support all faculty and staff to fully utilize their expertise, and to this end, we will hold regular meetings to discuss the direction of education.
Please join me in creating a school where students can learn and thrive, wherever they are, whenever they are. We will strive to make school more than a place where knowledge is imparted, but a place where students can truly enjoy learning and gain a broader perspective on the world. We ask that teachers become a community that shares their experiences and wisdom for the benefit of students.
For the betterment of ○○ High School, I will boldly implement changes if they are necessary. Change is sometimes scary and challenging, but I ask you to embrace it positively and actively deal with it. If we all work together to prepare our students for the future and help our school grow, we will have a brighter and more promising future.
I will strive to be a principal who respects the sense of mission and passion of our educational family and the good traditions built by our predecessors, and I will do my best to build a school that our students, teachers, and parents can all be proud of.
Thank you.
Message from the new chairman of the KFTC
Dear FTC staff!
Once again, I am sincerely pleased to be in the same boat as the KFTC with you. It seems like only yesterday that I said goodbye to you with regret when I left the KFTC in January, and it is with a renewed sense of gratitude that I have the opportunity to work with you again with the same mind and heart. I have once again reflected on the role and vision of the KFTC and pondered the way forward. It is a great honor to serve as the second Chairman of the KFTC under the ○○○ government, and at the same time, I feel a sense of responsibility for the enormous mission entrusted to the KFTC. Especially at this time when the global economic environment is rapidly changing and various challenges in Korea and abroad are scattered, I would like to work with you to fulfill the precious mission of establishing a fair market economic order. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my predecessor, Chairman ○○○, and all of you who have paved this path with passion and dedication.
Dear Staff!
Thanks to your enthusiasm, the KFTC has accomplished a great deal. I know that your dedication, hard work, and unwavering sense of mission have laid the foundation of the KFTC and built the trust of our society. However, we still have much to accomplish. The many structural problems in our economy cannot simply be fixed; innovation and change are essential to turn things around. To do this, the fundamental principles of free competition and fair trade in the marketplace must be established, and I am committed to working with you to defend and advance these principles and ensure that they remain firmly rooted in the foundations of our economy and society. Today, the KFTC is being asked to play a stronger role as an institution that leads change and innovation. We must fulfill this mission.
Dear beloved and respected staff!
My policy agenda for the coming year will be centered around four key challenges, which I believe will help us realize our goals and vision.
First, we must promote fair and vibrant market competition to foster creativity and innovation. In the age of the digital economy, the mobile and platform economy is growing rapidly. We now need to be more vigilant against unfair behavior such as abuse of dominance and collusion in these new areas. In recent years, the market power of global companies has increased, and international cartels affecting consumers have become a serious issue. We will actively respond to these issues and strengthen laws and policies to protect the public’s interests, not only within the KFTC but also through cooperation with ministries and local governments.
Second, it is crucial to protect the economically vulnerable and build a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem. We need to pool our capabilities to improve unfair practices faced by SMEs and the self-employed and ensure fair opportunities. Issues like technology misappropriation and unfair price gouging are still occurring, and strong measures are needed to root them out. We will also improve whistleblower protections and reward systems to make it easier for people to report unfair practices.
Third, we will listen to the voices of consumers by strengthening the protection of consumer rights and interests. The KFTC aims to fulfill its role as a control tower for consumer policy. In particular, with the recent increase in online shopping, consumer damages are on the rise, and it is urgent to take measures to prevent and protect them. In the case of consumer damage arising from overseas transactions, we will seek solutions through international cooperation. In addition, we will endeavor to actively promote education and information programs to promote consumer rights and interests.
Fourth, we will strengthen the KFTC’s adjudication function and increase transparency to become a trusted institution. In order to meet the public’s expectations and ensure the fairness of the law, we must improve the quality of fair procedures and adjudications by strengthening the protection of the rights of the accused and activating the expedited deliberation system. We need the active participation and dedication of our employees, and through this, we will create a trusted KFTC.
Respected employees!
As the KFTC’s role is becoming increasingly important, we all need to have a higher sense of responsibility and ethics. As watchdogs of the market economy, we must have a stronger sense of commitment and integrity. The public places great importance on the integrity of public officials and expects the Commission to live up to their expectations with fairness and integrity. I will do my best to create a fair and transparent organizational culture so that your hard work and dedication can lead to meaningful results. The KFTC should no longer just regulate and enforce the law, but develop into an institution that can contribute to the public’s trust and realize social values.
In closing, I would like to wish you and your families good health and happiness, and ask for your strong support in the path KFTC is pursuing. Thank you.
Inaugural Remarks by the Minister of Employment and Labor
Honorable members of the public and members of the Ministry of Employment and Labor family! It is a great honor and a great responsibility for me to stand here today. Our economy is recovering faster than ever before, thanks to the sweat and passion of Korean workers and business leaders, but our current economic growth is not enough to move us toward a society where all Koreans can live well together. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with you, the people of Korea, who are an incredible force in the world. To this end, our Ministry of Employment and Labor
Below is an example of a speech that has been naturally expanded at your request.
Honorable members of the public and members of the Ministry of Employment and Labor family!
It is a great honor and a great responsibility for me to stand here today. Our economy is recovering faster than ever before, thanks to the sweat and hard work of Korean workers and business leaders, but our current economic growth is not enough to move us toward a society where all Koreans can live well together. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with you, the people of Korea, whose strength is remarkable to the world.
Nevertheless, our society still faces many challenges: businesses are competing fiercely for survival in a rapidly changing economic environment, and workers are looking for job security. The declining birthrate and aging population are accelerating the pace of job change, while advances in technology are making existing jobs obsolete or creating new ones. In the midst of these changes, governments will need to ensure that businesses and workers can win together through policies that prepare for the future.
First, we must create safe and healthy working environments.
A safe environment is fundamental to productivity, which is directly linked to people’s lives. Although the number of workplace deaths has been steadily decreasing in recent years, there are still many dangers in the workplace, especially in small businesses and construction sites, where workers are at risk due to insufficient safety equipment and training. Under these circumstances, the Ministry of Employment and Labor will do its utmost to ensure that all workers can work in a safe environment. We will also strengthen support and supervision of small businesses, with the goal of raising their safety management to the level of large enterprises to provide a better working environment.
Second, we will spare no effort to support job creation and stable employment.
Jobs are a vital component of people’s livelihoods and play an important role in the development of the national economy. We are putting in place a range of policies to help young people find quality jobs and middle-aged and elderly people stay active in the economy with long careers. In particular, we will focus on strengthening tailored training programs to help young people find employment, so that we can create a professional workforce that meets the needs of the times. In line with the transition to a digital economy, we will strengthen education and training to open doors to employment in high value-added industries such as IT technology and artificial intelligence.
Third, we will pursue both flexibility and stability of work through labor market reform.
Many people value “work-life balance,” which has become a trend and a social demand, and we plan to further implement policies such as shortening working hours and expanding remote work. At the same time, we will strengthen social safety nets such as regularization of temporary workers and employment insurance to reduce employment insecurity. In particular, we will work to address discrimination against temporary workers and improve their working conditions.
Lastly, we will broaden communication through social dialogue.
Labor policy cannot be decided by the government alone, but must take into account the views of workers, managers, and the public. To this end, we will communicate with an open mind and listen to the voices of various stakeholders. Through social dialogue involving labor, management, and the government, we will understand each other’s positions and explore ways to create a more sustainable and fair labor market.
I would like to take this opportunity to make a promise to the people. We, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, will promote policies that people can feel and strive for better working conditions and job creation. We will do our best to create a Korea where each and every citizen can work with peace of mind, and a society where fair opportunities and welfare are guaranteed.
We look forward to your continued support and encouragement. Thank you.
Inauguration speech by the chairman of the sponsoring company
Good afternoon, members of the ○○○ Sponsorship Association. Today, I feel infinite gratitude and great honor to stand in front of all of you who have trusted and pushed me to become the president of the ○○○ Patronage Association. I also feel a tremendous sense of responsibility that you have chosen me as your president, and I would like to take this opportunity to share with you my resolutions and aspirations.
While I’m thrilled by your trust, I also ask myself if I’m up to the task. However, I believe that if we work together, listen to each other’s opinions, and communicate with each other, we will be able to lead our organization in a good direction. In the process, I will value each of your thoughts and opinions, and we will create a ○○○ Foundation that can grow together.
Looking back, we have done a lot of meaningful things over the years: we have reached out to foster children and those in need; we have instilled dreams and hope in future generations through various fundraisers and scholarships during the holiday season; we have practiced the true value of sharing through various volunteer activities; and we have been at the forefront of making a positive difference in our society. This is thanks to our decades-long tradition and passion, and I would like to express my deepest respect and gratitude to our past presidents and all the members who have been at the center of it.
I would also like to take this opportunity to share the important goals and philosophy of our organization with a wider audience. The more people know about our existence, the more supporters we will attract, and the more warmth we will spread throughout our society. Therefore, I will make every effort to spread the word about the good influence of our organization and invite many people to join us in sharing. In particular, I will actively promote various public relations activities to spread the value and meaning of our organization, so that we can establish ourselves as an organization that practices social responsibility through sharing.
There are many people in our society who do good deeds in secret, but while individual good deeds are important, it is more rewarding and meaningful to share them with our neighbors when we work together as a group like our sponsors. Even small acts of kindness can create big miracles when everyone comes together. I believe that the joy of sharing will take root in every member’s daily life and spread to those around them, transforming our society into a warmer and more caring place.
Personally, my life has been opened up and enriched since I met the ○○○ Foundation. Through sharing and helping activities, I realized the true meaning of life, and I felt my heart was filled with the precious connections I made with so many people. Now that I have been able to grow through the organization, I want to do my best to give back to society by sharing the help I have received more widely.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to make a promise to you once again from the bottom of my heart. In order to repay you for your faith in me, I will do my best to spread hope to the less fortunate in society, to help our ○○○Foundation develop further, and to actively work with you, our members, to make our organization a stronger one.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members for listening, and wish you and your families good health and happiness. Thank you.
Inaugural Address by the President of the Republic of Korea
Thank you, my honored and beloved people.
I bow my head in deep gratitude for your great choice.
Today, as the 19th President of the Republic of Korea, I take the first step toward a new Korea.
My shoulders are heavy with the immense responsibility that you, the people, have bestowed upon me.
My heart is burning with passion to create a country like no other.
And my head is full of blueprints that will usher in a new world of integration and coexistence.
The new Korea we are about to build is the one that our predecessors have consistently pursued despite countless setbacks and defeats.
It is also the Korea that our young people, through great sacrifice and dedication, have so desperately wanted to build.
To build such a Korea, I pledge to fulfill my responsibility and calling as the 19th President of the Republic of Korea with fearlessness and humility before history and the people.
I would like to express my gratitude and deepest sympathies to the candidates with whom I campaigned.
There are no winners or losers in this election.
We are partners who will lead a new Korea together.
We must now put the fierce competition behind us and move forward together, hand in hand, toward the future.
Honorable citizens,
Over the past few months, we have experienced unprecedented political upheaval.
The politics have been chaotic, but the people have been great.
Even with the impeachment and imprisonment of our current president, you have paved the way for our country to move forward.
Our people were not discouraged, but rather used the call as an opportunity to rise to the occasion and finally opened a new world today.
The greatness of Korea comes from the greatness of its people.
And in this presidential election, our people have made history again.
You have chosen a new Korea with unanimous support from all corners of the country.
From today, I will be the president of all the people.
I will sincerely serve even those who did not support me.
I dare to promise.
May ○○, 2017 will go down in history as the day that true national unity began.
My honored and beloved people,
During the past hard times, the people have asked, “Is this the country?”
President ○○○ will start with that very question.
From this day forward, I will be a president who will make this country what it should be.
I will boldly break with the wrong practices of the old era.
I will start with the president.
First, I will clean up the authoritarian presidential culture.
As soon as the preparations are complete, I will step out of the Blue House and open the Gwanghwamun presidential era.
I will have head-to-head discussions with my staff.
I will be a president who communicates frequently with the people.
I will brief the media on major issues myself.
On my way home from work, I will stop by the market and have a casual conversation with citizens.
Sometimes, I will hold a public debate at Gwanghwamun Square.
I will share the imperial power of the president as much as possible.
I will make the institutions of power completely independent of politics.
We will set up checks and balances so that no institution can wield unchecked power.
I will work from a low position.
I will be a president who is at eye level with the people.
I will resolve the security crisis in a hurry.
I will work hard for peace on the Korean Peninsula.
If necessary, I will fly to ○○○ immediately.
I will go to ○○○ and ○○○, and if conditions are favorable, I will go to ○○○ as well.
I will do everything I can to settle peace on the Korean Peninsula.
I will further strengthen the U.S.-ROK alliance.
I will also seriously negotiate with the United States and China to resolve the THAAD issue.
Strong security comes from a strong national defense.
We will work to strengthen our self-defense.
We will also lay the foundation for resolving the North Korean nuclear issue.
By establishing a peace structure in Northeast Asia, we will pave the way for the reduction of tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
We will change the politics of division and conflict.
The conflict between conservatives and liberals must end.
The president will take the initiative to talk to them.
The opposition is a partner in governing.
We will regularize dialogues and meet frequently.
I will appoint talented people from all over the country.
I will make meritocracy the guiding principle of my appointments.
I will recruit and invite talented people to work regardless of whether they support me or not.
The economy is difficult inside and outside the country.
People’s lives are also difficult.
As I promised during the election, I will prioritize jobs first.
At the same time, I will take the lead in reforming the chaebol.
In the era of the ○○○ government, the word “cronyism” will completely disappear.
We will resolve conflicts between regions, classes, and generations and work to solve the problem of irregular labor.
We will create a world without discrimination.
I emphasize once again.
Under the ○○○ and ○○○ Party governments, opportunities will be equal.
The process will be fair.
The outcome will be just.
Honorable people,
This presidential election was held under the impeachment of the previous president.
The history of ‘unfortunate presidents’ continues.
This unfortunate history must come to an end, starting with the ○○○ government.
I will be a new example of a president of the Republic of Korea.
I will do my best to become a successful president judged by the people and history.
With that, I will repay your support.
I will be a clean president.
I will be a president who comes into office empty-handed and leaves office empty-handed.
I will be a president who returns to his hometown and becomes an ordinary citizen, sharing his heart with his neighbors.
I will be a president who is proud of my country.
I will be an honest president who keeps his promises.
I will fulfill the promises I made during the election process one by one.
True political development is possible only if the president practices trustworthy politics.
I will not make loud claims to do the impossible.
If I do something wrong, I will say that I did it wrong.
I will not cover up unfavorable public opinion with lies.
I will be a fair president.
I will create a world free of privilege and favoritism.
I will create a world where common sense pays off.
I will not turn a blind eye to the pain of my neighbors.
I will make sure that no one is marginalized.
I will be a president who wipes away the tears of the people.
I will be a president who communicates.
I will become a lowly person, a humble power, and create the most powerful country.
I will not be a president who rules and governs, but a president who talks and communicates.
I will be the ‘President of the Gwanghwamun Era’ and stay close to the people.
I will remain a warm president, a president who is a friend.
To the people who love and respect me,
On this ○○th day of ○○, 2017, the Republic of Korea begins again.
The history that makes a country a country begins.
Please join me on this path.
I will dedicate my life’s work.
Thank you.
Inaugural speech by KFTC Chairman
Dear colleagues of the KFTC, it is a great pleasure to see you again. I stand here today with the great responsibility of being the first chairman of the KFTC of the ○○○ government. Personally, the KFTC has a very special meaning to me. It is with great emotion that I return to this place, because in the summer of 1982, I was assigned to the Fair Trade Division of the Economic Planning Institute, where I worked for three years and seven months. At that time, the terms “competition promotion” and “fair trade” were very unfamiliar.
Since the Fair Trade Act was first introduced and enforced in 1981, the KFTC has been leading the value-based development of our economy by promoting competition and correcting unfair behavior. This is thanks to the pioneering role played by all the staff of the KFTC, including my predecessors.
Today, I would like to analyze the current state of our economy from an antitrust perspective and discuss with you the policy issues that I and you need to address.
In recent years, our economy has been experiencing slow growth and a lack of market order, leading to increased polarization and social inclusion. This leads to the spread of social conflicts and increases the cost of healing them. As seen in the case of conglomerate capture, we are seeing a phenomenon where a few ruling families are able to enter areas where it is easy to make profits without taking on any risk or reaping higher rewards than in normal transactions, thereby violating the rights and interests of the economically disadvantaged.
I believe that improving this economic structure and creating an economy in which “just activities are rewarded with just rewards” is the key to economic democratization, and the KFTC, as the lead ministry to promote economic democratization, will have to fulfill the calling of the times.
Going forward, I would like to focus on the following four issues to drive policy.
First, we must thoroughly correct the structure and behavior of the conglomerate group, which reaps unjustified rewards from unfair activities. Korea’s conglomerate groups have played a driving role in the country’s economic development, but they are characterized by an undesirable structure in which the head of the family controls all affiliates with a small shareholding, resulting in a disparity of authority and responsibility. In terms of behavior, the biggest problem is the pursuit of self-interest through insider trading, the penetration of SMEs in the process, and monopolization in the front and back related markets. We, the KFTC, need to eradicate wrongful practices that threaten the fair compensation system, such as the self-serving behavior of the chaebol family, such as job churning, and unfair internal transactions between affiliates.
In this regard, I would like to make a few remarks on the proposed amendments to the Fair Trade Act currently under discussion in the National Assembly. First, the proposed amendments permit transactions between affiliates in principle, but exceptionally prohibit only three types of unfair transactions that confer abnormal benefits on the chaebol family, including transactions on terms more favorable than normal, work stealing, and misappropriation of business opportunities. However, there is a misconception that transactions between affiliates are prohibited in principle. This misunderstanding should not be allowed to overshadow the truth, so we should actively explain it so that the public can understand it.
In addition, the provisions that presume the involvement of the total number of family members and the issue of the burden of proof for violations of the Fair Trade Act should be clarified to prevent controversy over over-regulation. We will need to work closely with the National Assembly to ensure that reasonable amendments are made.
In addition, to make the ownership and control structure of conglomerate groups simpler and more transparent, and to curb arbitrary management behavior of controlling shareholders, we should actively promote amendments to the Commercial Code and the National Pension Act in cooperation with relevant ministries. In particular, we should prohibit the acquisition of large companies without reducing the control of the controlling family in the future, and prohibit new rounds of capital contributions to prevent abusive management succession.
Second, we must protect the rights and interests of the economically weak, such as small and medium-sized ventures, and actively support the realization of the creative economy. Unlike the 20th century economy, which generated profits by competing in established markets, the 21st century economy needs to create new markets and jobs. This requires creative core technologies, which can be developed through interdisciplinary, industry-academia-government, and R&D collaboration between companies. Without a level playing field between participants, it is difficult for collaborations to succeed.
In particular, a fair competition order must be established so that newly developed technologies, patents, and trade secrets are not stolen and fair compensation is paid. A fair trade foundation and environment must be created so that small and medium-sized ventures can freely develop technologies and receive fair compensation for them.
Currently, as a small number of large companies monopolize the market, many small and medium-sized contractors and suppliers have become highly dependent on large companies, and the lock-in effect is deepening. In this situation, unfair behavior such as unfair unit price reduction, technology and manpower theft, etc. have not been eradicated. It is difficult for small and medium-sized ventures to grow or for the creative economy to take root in a market that is locked in by demand monopolies and is not fair.
Third, we need to redesign our regulatory system to eradicate cartels. Cartels are one of the biggest forms of unfair behavior that not only directly harm consumers by inherently restricting market competition, but also disincentivize technological development. To combat cartels, regulatory systems need to be designed to ensure that it is difficult to get caught breaking the law. Because the probability of getting caught is low, the expected costs of getting caught must outweigh the expected benefits of breaking the law in order to deter violations.
First of all, it is necessary to increase the burden of detecting cartels by introducing a class action system to activate damages lawsuits, and to strengthen criminal sanctions by granting the right to request prosecution to the SMEs and public procurement agencies. In addition, transparency and clarity have been emphasized in the imposition of cartel fines, but this is not enough. It is also important to ensure the effectiveness of administrative sanctions by increasing the actual rate of fines, and to strengthen investigative capabilities by expanding the number of investigators.
Fourth, we need to create a market environment that empowers consumers to play a leading role in the creative economy. We must actively provide consumers with the comparative information they need, and support the activities of consumer organizations to establish rational consumption practices, so that a culture in which companies serve consumers as owners will spread.
Dear colleagues, the public’s interest in and expectations of KFTC are greater than ever, and the demand for economic democratization and protection of small businesses and consumers is particularly strong and persistent. We must take this calling seriously and fulfill it. To do so, KFTC employees must have both a macro view of the economy as a whole and a micro view of every corner of the economy and society. They must also be able to speak out in time against competition-restrictive policies or measures of other ministries to minimize their anti-competitive effects.
While companies utilize talented lawyers and research personnel, the KFTC is weak in this area. It will need to overhaul its research staff and organization to ensure that its market surveillance role is properly fulfilled.
In addition, as an organization that practices fair trade, the public’s trust is paramount, so we require a much stricter sense of ethics and integrity than other organizations. We will have to manage and monitor ourselves to ensure that there is no illegality, evasion, or corruption within our organization. Please keep in mind that if we lose public trust, our regulatory effectiveness will be greatly reduced.
In conclusion, I will do my best to work with you during my term of office to establish a fair competition order in our economy and achieve economic democratization. Let’s build a KFTC that the people trust and believe in. Thank you very much.
Inaugural speech by Chairman ○○ Corporation
Dear ○○ Corporation family!
I am ○○○, the new chairman of the KIC, and I feel a heavy responsibility to successfully lead the tasks at hand, such as promoting the development of public enterprises, rather than personal glory. I would like to take this opportunity to express my determination to create a better tomorrow together with you, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your dedication to the development of the Corporation until today.
Since our establishment in 20XX, we have made achievements amidst internal and external challenges. Last year, we were selected as an excellent public company for management evaluation by the Ministry of ○ for the ○th consecutive year, and we have shown outstanding performance in various fields, such as being selected as an excellent human resource development organization by the Ministry of ○ and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and an excellent labor-management culture organization by the Ministry of ○. This is the precious fruit of your sweat and hard work under difficult conditions, and thanks to the excellent leadership of our predecessor, Chairman ○○○. For this, I would like to express my gratitude and encouragement.
Now, I look forward to working with you to build this corporation into a place of even greater achievements and possibilities. There is no denying that the public view of public corporations is currently not favorable. There is a widespread perception that public corporations are run inefficiently, with some even calling them “godsend workplaces.” We must change this perception. In order to gain the trust of the public and to be recognized as truly fulfilling their mission as public institutions, we must demonstrate our achievements through change. Therefore, I would like to outline several management policies that I will lead with you.
First, we will advance public corporations and revitalize the economy.
Advancing public enterprises is an inevitable task of our time and must be accomplished to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of our industrial complexes. To this end, we must not be afraid of bone-crushing restructuring and make creative cost-cutting efforts. Furthermore, we must do our best to contribute to the revitalization of the local economy through the early implementation of fiscal measures promoted by the entire government, recognizing that this is the call of the times. By doing so, we will position the Corporation as a true public company that contributes to society.
Second, customer satisfaction management.
We cannot exist without the citizens of ○○, and it is thanks to the trust of our customers and owners, the citizens of ○○, that we have been able to grow over the years. Now is the time to build on our achievements and realize management that is even closer to the citizens. We will conduct regular customer satisfaction surveys at all of our business sites to thoroughly understand what our customers truly need and what improvements they would like to see. This will enable us to provide customized services that will impress our customers and realize true customer satisfaction.
Third, we will prioritize safety.
Our major projects include facilities that are used by a large number of citizens. In particular, facilities that are directly related to the safety of citizens, such as swimming pools and underground shopping malls, cannot be overemphasized. We must secure the safety of our facilities and strengthen management to ensure accident-free management. Think of the recent large-scale accidents that have occurred in society. We should never forget the lesson that a small mistake can lead to a major catastrophe. A moment’s lapse in vigilance can destroy everything, so we will prioritize the safety of each facility and manage it perfectly.
Fourth, labor-management convergence management.
Labor-management relations are the foundation of management, and it is a task that must be solved together for the development of the complex. Currently, we are facing the challenge of advancing public enterprises. At this time, if labor and management are at odds with each other, the entire organization could be at risk. Therefore, it is imperative that we form a more convergent labor-management relationship and move forward based on mutual respect. I will continue to strengthen communication between labor and management with an open mind, actively reflect your opinions, and strive to improve the development of the complex and the welfare of employees.
Lastly, we will create a positive organizational culture through harmonious management.
Harmony and communication without conflict among employees and between departments is the foundation of successful management. An organization where people are excited to come to work and feel good about working is the ideal workplace that we should create together. We must start by making small changes, such as lowering our voices and listening to each other’s opinions, to create an atmosphere of trust and respect for each other. By doing so, let’s make the complex a dream workplace that everyone can be proud of.
Dear ○○ Corporation employees!
From now on, I will do my best to go beyond the level of facility management and raise the internal and external competitiveness of the complex to the next level. My goal with you is to go beyond mere management performance and strengthen the vision and values of the complex. Let’s work together to grow the Corporation into one of the best and most outstanding public corporations in the country. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Director ○○ and all employees for their dedication to the KEPCO even during the vacancy of the Chairman, and wish you and your families good health and happiness.
Thank you.
Superintendent’s Inaugural Address
Honorable citizens of ○○ City, and dear faculty, staff, and parents, I wish you all the best!
It is an immense honor to stand here today as the ○th ○○○ City Superintendent of Education, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the citizens of ○○ City for giving me the opportunity to work hard for the education of ○○ City, which will lead Korea and the world. I would also like to thank all those who took time out of their busy schedules to congratulate me on my inauguration.
Education is the hope and competitiveness of a country. All countries in the world are making every effort to strengthen the competitiveness of education and foster human resources with autonomy and creativity to secure national competitiveness. When Korea is filled with well-educated human resources, we can look forward to a hopeful future. In the 21st century, the education system is gradually changing at a rapid pace. What students need is no longer just knowledge, but creativity and problem-solving skills to apply that knowledge in real-world situations. In order to cope with the knowledge information society, the role of education must go beyond being a mere transmitter of knowledge, and help our children develop the capabilities to drive change in society.
Under these circumstances, I will devote all my energies to creating an advanced education that fits the new era, leaving behind the outdated systems that have hindered the development of education. The goal of our education is not just to compete, but to cultivate the values of human life and the attitudes of respect and cooperation as members of a community. Therefore, the direction of education should be to cultivate true human resources and help students blossom their potential.
I hope to repay your interest by fulfilling the mission I have been given, so I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate my commitment to you today.
I will do my best to keep pace with the rapidly changing world of education, but most importantly, I recognize that we must prioritize education for our children, and I promise to create an environment that will nurture their individual skills and turn them into contributing members of society. We believe that it will be better if we boldly stay away from the old education policies and accept only the necessary ones, while recognizing and combining new ones. We will apply the old saying of “warm and knowledgeable” to the current education system.
At the same time, our educational sites need to become safer and warmer spaces that prepare our children for the future. It is our responsibility as adults to help them think about their dreams and futures in the schools where they spend most of their day. As Chancellor, I will create an educational environment for students’ growth and self-actualization, not just education, so that they have the opportunity to imagine and challenge themselves beyond academics.
First, we will cultivate creative talents who can advance not only in Korea but also in the wider world, and people with skills and character who can contribute to the development of the community.
To this end, we will develop educational programs that enable students to understand and cooperate with each other based on action-oriented character education. We will also strengthen support activities for academic advancement and strive to foster creativity. To realize future education that fosters global leaders, we will set up English-only classrooms in all schools, operate various foreign language education programs, and expand the number of native teachers to create an environment for experiential learning in English.
Second, we will strive to create an environment where students can study with peace of mind.
In particular, we will further expand the number of center schools, base schools, and excellent high schools to enhance the educational competitiveness of students in rural areas, and support children from underprivileged families so that they can study with peace of mind. In addition, we will actively implement educational welfare policies to eliminate educational blind spots and ensure that all students enjoy equal educational opportunities. Most importantly, we will establish institutions and schools to eliminate educational imbalances, laying the foundation for closing the educational gap. We will also strengthen student counseling activities for the safety of students, institutionalize school safety guards to create a school culture that is free of violence and full of fun and love. We will create a comfortable educational environment by equipping all classrooms with state-of-the-art air conditioning facilities, and reduce the burden of private education costs by operating after-school learning activities that are tailored to individual levels and aptitudes.
Third, we will create a teaching culture where teachers feel rewarded and proud to work.
The quality of education depends on teachers. We will create an educational culture where teachers can feel proud of their profession and earn the trust and respect of parents. We will also expand systems to enhance and support the welfare of teachers so that they can focus on teaching. We will enhance teaching expertise by respecting and supporting each teacher’s unique teaching style, and reduce workload by legislating an intern teacher system. We will prioritize outstanding teachers at school sites, use top teachers as local scholarship agents, support faculty research activities, and expand customized training for professional development.
Finally, we will implement advanced educational welfare that inspires and trusts parents and brings satisfaction and hope to communities.
Today, as interest in education grows, so do the demands. We need to maximize the educational capacity of schools to satisfy and impress education demanders, actively expand the interest and participation of members of the educational community, and participate in the cultivation of human resources. Our educational goal is to bring the community and schools together to help students grow into mature members of society, and we will strengthen cooperation with the community to achieve this.
I believe that if what I have said above is achieved, the future of our students will be bright enough. Creating a school where individuality, talents, and diversity are respected, where students take ownership and enjoy their studies, where teachers are respected and can express their passion for education, and where parents are involved and serve, all of these issues must be well harmonized to usher in an era of true education. However, rather than making drastic changes, we will approach this goal gradually, without neglecting each other’s efforts.
In the planning and implementation process for resolving all these education issues, I believe that we must establish a culture of discussion with citizens. By doing so, we will improve the effectiveness of education policies and reflect the diverse voices of local communities on improving the educational environment to create an educational environment that satisfies everyone. I promise to work with citizens throughout the planning and implementation process, and will establish a close cooperation system with local governments. I will work together with civic organizations and the education community to solve the city’s education issues. I look forward to your cooperation, and I promise to repay your choice with dedication.
Message from the Superintendent of Education
Life is a complex and multifaceted journey. We each learn and grow through various experiences in our lives. In the course of our lives, we sometimes encounter hardship and adversity, and other times we experience hope and joy. Sometimes these experiences strengthen us, sometimes they weaken us, but the important thing is that whatever the experience, it gives us the opportunity to reflect on ourselves and develop into a better version of ourselves.
People, in particular, are constantly striving to fulfill their dreams as they go through life. While our paths may be different, everyone’s life is filled with moments of growth and accomplishment. Sometimes small successes bring us great joy, and even minor failures can be the springboard for our next leap. When we realize that life isn’t just about perfection, but about learning from our past mistakes and moving forward to a better future, we discover the true meaning of life.
One of the most important elements of the life process is relationships. Whether it’s family, friends, or coworkers, our relationships with people have a huge impact on our lives and give us a deeper and richer sense of meaning. Sometimes they lead to conflict, but it’s through conflict that we gain a deeper understanding of each other, and through the process of reconciliation and forgiveness, we are able to build better relationships. In our relationships, we learn to love and care, and realize how much it helps us get through life.
In addition, we all have aspirations to achieve our own goals. In the process of working towards our goals, we may experience failures and setbacks, but this is never the end.
Hello, everyone, it’s that time of year again when we’re feeling the warmth of spring and the promise of summer. It’s already June, and there’s a slight hint of heat in the breeze, and while we’re all excited about the upcoming summer vacations, I’m also excited to begin my new responsibilities before you.
June is not only the beginning of summer, but it also marks the halfway point of the year. They say “the beginning is half the battle,” but I believe that the path to success is to take stock of where you’ve been. I hope this is a time for you to revisit your goals and plans and reorganize.
Today, I am excited and honored to be here at ○○, a place with a long history of education, and to be able to work with you to shape the future of ○○ education. The world of education is changing faster than ever before, and with change comes new issues and challenges. The recent issues of school violence, infringement of teaching rights, and the crisis in public education, as well as institutional changes such as the introduction of the five-day school week, require a variety of needs and solutions. In the midst of these changes, I feel a great responsibility to take charge of ○○ Education, and I would like to explore the direction of education that meets the needs of the times and create a better educational environment by embracing change.
The development of ○○ Education is a valuable achievement that has been made possible thanks to the dedication and cooperation of more than 270,000 education families. With your strength, ○○ Education has become one of the best and most advanced education systems in the country, and I will do my best to further develop this achievement. I will continue to build on the achievements you have made, and I will do everything in my power to make ○○ Education a more future-oriented and competitive education system.
I believe that the core mission of education administration is dedicated service and field-oriented practice. I will listen to the voices of teachers, school officials, and parents who are working silently in the field of education, and respond quickly to the difficulties on the front lines of schools. I will strive to implement policies that reflect the voices of the field so that you can trust education administration. I will also explore various educational programs and support measures to help students reach their full potential in a changing educational environment.
Dear education family, I ask you to gather your wisdom and capabilities to help ○○ education take a leap forward without resting on our laurels. Only when we all work together will ○○ Education shine even brighter. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for joining us today and entrusting me with this great responsibility and opportunity.
I stand here with a firm belief in the future, and I look forward to moving forward together with all of you, our proud ○○ Education family, and I would like to end my remarks by thanking you.
Sample superintendent inauguration greeting
Good morning, citizens of ○○, and thank you to the teachers, students, parents, and guests for joining us today. I am so grateful that you have taken the time to make this inauguration ceremony even more meaningful.
Today, as I begin my new role as superintendent, I have many dreams. I envision a happy school where our children can learn to their heart’s content, where they can grow in respect for one another, where parents can feel safe sending their children to school, and where children can come to school each morning excited to learn. I envision children nurturing their dreams, teachers walking alongside them with a passion for education and a sense of mission, and parents supporting them on this journey with their love for their children.
Students, teachers, and parents, you have done a lot of hard work, and I honor and thank you for all that you have done so that our children can learn in a better environment, our teachers can teach with greater reward, and our parents can believe in and support education. Your dedication and hard work has made our educational environment possible. With the world’s most conscientious students, the most talented teachers, and the most dedicated parents doing the best they can in their respective positions, our education can continue to dream big.
Over the years, we have overcome many challenges and issues to improve the quality of education and produce globally competitive talents. It is no small achievement that education has made our country stand out in the world. Now, it is time for us to stop resting on our laurels and move towards even better education. It’s time to tighten our shoelaces once again and move forward to lead new changes and developments.
Helping our students find their dreams and fearlessly put forth the effort to realize them is an important goal of our education. Along the way, they should be able to explore their own possibilities and learn to never give up in the face of challenges and failures. We also want them to experience the sense of accomplishment that comes from their own efforts, and to discover the true joy of learning along the way.
Teachers, you are the center of our education, the guides who unlock the dreams of our children. Your passion and commitment to education is more important than any education policy or system. I ask you to instill in children a love of learning and curiosity, and to teach them with tireless effort and love to help them grow. I will be there to support you along the way.
I also ask parents to do the same. I ask you to create a loving and caring community where all children, not just my child, can thrive. The habits of learning and good character that begin at home will help children move on to school and the wider world. We hope that parents will join us in ensuring that children grow up in the warmth and support of home and school.
The role of education authorities is also important. We need to create a transparent and efficient education environment through change and innovation. To this end, we will boldly break the old mold of education policy and do our best to ensure that every student has an equitable opportunity to learn. We also need the interest and support of citizens. Let us remember that education is the foundation of our society.
○○ Citizens, we are at a new starting point for the future of education. We want to move away from a uniform competition structure and realize an education that allows students to demonstrate their individuality and capabilities. We need to ensure that all students grow into holistic human beings with a balance of intellectual and moral qualities. We need the entire society to come together to ensure that students can enjoy the joy of growth based on their aptitudes and talents, regardless of their family circumstances or local environment.
It is time for students, teachers, parents, and education authorities to work together as one, fulfilling their roles and responsibilities, and moving towards a common goal. As the superintendent of all citizens, I will communicate with you, listen carefully, and respond to the voices of the field to the best of my ability.
I will use the field as my teacher, and I will always seek a better way forward through conversations with teachers, students, and parents. Your voices will be my compass, and they will be an important guide in determining the direction our education must take.
I invite all of you to join us on our journey to the school of our dreams. Together, we can create a future where our children can learn and grow happily. Thank you.
