I hope you can keep your eyes and ears open, not just for nature, but for the people around you. Within the small society of school, I want you to connect more with your friends and teachers and build deeper relationships. I believe that nothing makes a person grow like communication, and I look forward to helping you grow even more. I will strive to be a principal who can communicate with you, and I will always listen to what you think about the school, what you want the school to be, and reflect those voices to create a school where we can grow together.
As I begin my new role as principal, I would like to share with you a few things that we will be doing.
You are the chosen ones who are spending the most important years of your lives in our school, transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. As you know, our school’s goal is to educate “Proud Koreans and Global Leaders”. We all want you to grow into leaders who are both proudly Korean and globally aware, which is why our curriculum is both Korean and global. Our curriculum, which you are currently participating in, consists of identity education, various activities for leadership development, and international education, where identity education and leadership activities make up 50% of the curriculum, and international education makes up the other 50%.
In order to become the best school in Korea and the world, we will deepen each of these activities in the future. To this end, from the second semester, we will strengthen and deepen identity education and leadership activities. We will also strengthen activities in these areas in Korean to improve your understanding of the Korean language, so that you can confidently open your future as a member of our society and as a leader.

First, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the National Assembly and the people for giving me the opportunity to serve as Prime Minister. As I am sworn in as Prime Minister today, I am reminded of the heavy responsibility I have to the country and its people. The process of going through the parliamentary hearings and appointment motions has made me realize once again how big and important the job is that I have to do for the people, and I take this responsibility very seriously.
We are at a very critical point in history. We are faced with the task of transforming the fruits of democratization and industrialization, which have been achieved through the blood and sweat of the Korean people, into a ‘greater Korea’ and an ‘advanced first-class nation’. I am confident that our great people are up to the task, and we have the national capabilities to back it up. However, achieving these goals will not be an easy journey and can only be accomplished by working together.
The external environment around us is becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable. Global economic and political instability, climate change and environmental issues are among the many threats we face that need to be addressed at the global level. In addition, various social conflicts and confrontations, as well as economic polarization, are being amplified in Korea. These are issues that must be addressed as we move toward a ‘Greater Korea’. We urgently need national harmony and unity to overcome all these challenges and become the world-centered nation that all Koreans desire. Only through communication rather than conflict, and cooperation rather than confrontation, can we build a greater future.
Honorable people, @@@ President @@@ presented the realization of a ‘fair society’ as a new national direction in his last Liberation Day celebration, and it has long been my fervent dream to create a society where ‘freedom blooms like wild flowers and justice flows like a river’. A fair society and a warm society are the most important prerequisites for becoming an advanced, first-class nation. The first step to achieving this is to create a society where ‘laws and principles’ are firmly upheld. ‘Laws and principles’ should never be a means for the powerful to rule, but the foundation of a fair democratic society where all citizens live together.
It is necessary to correct flawed systems and practices, and to eradicate corruption and evasion. In particular, public officials must lead by example and demonstrate that they abide by the law and uphold principles. These actions will inspire trust in the public, and in turn, lay the foundation for the entire society to grow together. We believe that building a society that respects human values and where trust flows like a river is the key to national happiness and national development.
The second is “communication and harmony. Communication and harmony are the surest way to resolve all conflicts and confrontations in our society. It’s about solving problems through dialog and compromise and trying to understand each other. We need to increase communication across regions, ideologies, and generations to bring people together. Only when we have a common identity and vision of being one nation will true integration and progress be possible.
Communication is not just about words, it’s about listening to people’s voices and reflecting their opinions in policy. Governments, in particular, need to constantly communicate and build trust with their citizens. There are many challenges that can be solved through dialog and compromise, even if it takes a little more time. This is why it is important to try to understand the other side first, rather than trying to convince them.
Third is sharing and caring. We cannot achieve our happiness alone; we depend on each other, and the joy and happiness of our neighbors brings us more joy. Sharing and caring is not only for others, but also for our society as a whole. Governments and social leaders have a responsibility to devote more time and effort to the weak and marginalized, and to create a society where we all move forward together. The social values of caring for our neighbors and living together should be at the heart of our society.
I have been a lawyer all my life, striving to implement laws and principles and protect the vulnerable in society, but I feel there is still much to be done. As Prime Minister, I promise to dedicate myself to creating the fair and warm society that the people want.
Honorable officials, with today’s resolutions and pledges in mind, I would like to make a few words of encouragement to all government ministries and officials. We live in rapidly changing times. We need to have a more integrated and macro view in formulating and implementing various policies, and we need to understand each other’s territory and work together rather than being trapped in the perspective of individual ministries. To wisely address the challenges of the times, we need to reach consensus on the direction the country should take, and formulate and implement policies through consultation and coordination. I will actively support public officials to work in this manner.
I also want to emphasize the timing and responsible implementation of policies. We must constantly check whether policies are being implemented efficiently and in line with reality, and whether they are leading to tangible benefits for the people. Policies for the common people and the socially disadvantaged must be planned and implemented with more care and precision, as their effects directly translate into the quality of life of the people.
Dear public officials, as Prime Minister, I will fulfill the powers and responsibilities prescribed by the Constitution and laws. Prime Minister’s Inaugural Speech

Honorable citizens, beloved public servants across the country.
I am deeply grateful to President ○○○ and members of the ruling and opposition parties for this honorable opportunity to serve as the first Prime Minister of the ○○○ government. I would like to take this opportunity to convey to you my expectations and determination for the future of the Republic of Korea.
The ○○○ government is the product of the Candlelight Revolution, which took place over a six-month period from last winter to spring, with a total of 17 million people participating. The Candlelight Revolution began as a desperate protest asking, “Is this the country?” and led to a hopeful determination to create a “country worthy of a country.” It is not just anger at the government’s incompetence and miscommunication, but the beginning of a new era of transparency and fairness that all Koreans hope for together.
In this context, it becomes self-evident what kind of government ○○○ should be. The ○○○ Government must be a “government like a government” that will build a “Korea like a Korea,” and the cabinet I am in charge of must be a “cabinet like a cabinet.” This cabinet is not just an administrative organization, but a competent, communicative, and unified cabinet that meets the expectations of the people and builds trust. I am convinced that this is the minimum mandate given to us by the Candlelight Revolution.
First, it must be a competent cabinet, competent in everything it does to clean up the mistakes of the past, solve the problems of the present, and prepare for the future. It must take the lead in all issues that directly affect people’s lives, such as jobs, housing, childcare, education, and welfare, and be thoroughly prepared for the national challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and peaceful reunification. Every ministry in the government has its own past, present, and future, and I hope that each ministry will play its part in the development of Korea. I, too, will approach every issue as “the prime minister closest to the people,” always keeping the future of the country and its people in mind.
Second, it must be a cabinet of communication. The cabinet should never be trapped in the government, but should always be in the people. It must be a cabinet that cries and laughs with the people, not against them. We will be a cabinet that delivers the policies and information that the people need quickly and accurately, while also understanding the inconveniences and difficulties they experience in the field. We will also communicate with the National Assembly and strive to cooperate with the people’s representative body. I would like to convey to all public officials the teaching of Citizen Yeosang, “When you see the people, see their wounds.” I will be the “lowest prime minister” who listens to the people’s voices and communicates with the people from a low position.
Third, it must be a cabinet of unity, a cabinet that transcends ideology, region, and generation to embrace and serve all Koreans. We cannot face a bright future if our country remains divided any longer. I hope to be a cabinet that practices tolerance in all policies and in the selection of talented people. I, too, will strive to be the “fairest prime minister” who practices transparency.
Dear public officials,
The Candlelight Revolution did not end with the inauguration of the ○○○ government. It is only the beginning of a long journey to a better Korea. The ○○○ government is not the end point of the Candlelight Revolution, but a pathway to the true democracy that the people want, and all public officials are tools for carrying out national affairs under the command of the Candlelight Revolution.
In the process of carrying out national tasks, I believe that each government ministry must fulfill at least three things.
First, the direction of the national task and the direction of each ministry’s work must be consistent.
Second, the desirable pace of the tasks and the actual pace of the ministries’ work must also be harmonized.
Third, cooperation and coordination among the various ministries carrying out national tasks must be smooth.
I would like to take this opportunity to address the public servants today. I know from my own experience how dedicated and competent public servants are. I consider it a great privilege to be working with you to build a new future for Korea.

Inaugural Remarks by the Chairman of the Financial Services Commission

To the staff of the Financial Services Commission, a sincere welcome.
A new year has dawned, and I am very pleased to welcome a new beginning with you. I wish you all good health and happiness in your homes and workplaces this year. They say that a difficult position is “like the in-laws’ guest room,” and I don’t think the timing or the mandate of this position is any different. It is with a deep sense of duty and responsibility that I take on the enormous responsibility of chairing the FOMC at this pivotal time.
First, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members of the Financial Services Commission family for their efforts to stabilize the financial markets and develop the financial industry under difficult economic conditions. In particular, I would like to express my respect and gratitude to my predecessor, Mr. Jin Seung-soo, for his efforts to overcome the global financial crisis. Your dedication and passion laid the foundation for today’s stable financial markets, which will serve as a solid foundation for the Financial Services Commission to move forward.
As we look back on the past year, we have overcome the financial crisis swiftly and exemplarily, despite the delayed recovery of the global economy and the fiscal crisis in Europe. As chair of the G20, we demonstrated our leadership by forging an international consensus on major financial reforms, and we paved the way for a new era of microfinance and sunshine loans. However, despite these achievements, challenges remain, such as PF loan failures, rising household borrowing, and weakening global competitiveness. These challenges are stacked in front of us like a zipped file, and it is time to unpack them one by one.
Ladies and gentlemen, today I’d like to propose that we make the Financial Services Committee more accountable to the people. We need to make sure that people feel like, “This is the Board that’s solving my problems,” and “This is ‘our’ Board that’s working for me.” It’s not going to be an easy journey, but we’re going to walk it together, supporting and encouraging each other along the way. I look forward to your support and commitment.
I would like to share with you some of the key challenges we will face in the coming years. The first is the establishment of stability and order in financial markets. While financial firms are the main players in the financial industry, the government also plays an important role in its development. The Financial Services Commission must respect the autonomy and creativity of financial firms, while providing the necessary incentives for the industry to develop on its own. We will uphold the principles of order and discipline to ensure that the financial industry is a growth industry that contributes to the national economy. If there is any disorder in the financial market, the Financial Services Commission will take decisive action and contribute to market stability.
Second, we need to strengthen efficient support for the real economy. Finance must fulfill its primary function of providing funds to the real economy, so that it can support new growth engines and contribute to addressing national challenges such as the declining birthrate and aging population. In addition, it is also an important task to provide stable funding for national development through policy finance.
Third, we must strengthen the global competitiveness of our financial industry. We must use environmental changes, such as the recent reform of global financial regulations, as an opportunity to develop our financial industry. To this end, we will continue to implement the G20 agreements on time, advance our financial infrastructure to global standards, and provide active support to financial firms to expand their access to financial markets in Korea and abroad through capacity building.
Fourth, we will proactively respond to market instability. As past experience has shown, if we do not identify and respond to vulnerabilities in financial markets in advance, problems can escalate and lead to complex crises. As the “guardian of financial markets,” the Financial Services Commission will continue to monitor market trends in-depth and respond proactively. In particular, we will contribute to market stability by stably managing household loans and promptly resolving PF loans that may become non-performing.
Fifth, we will work to internalize affordable finance. There is an old Chinese phrase, “Hakchulji” (涸轍之鮒). It means “a crucian carp left in a small puddle is more in need of a drop of water than waiting for a big river.” It reminds us that sometimes it is the small support that is needed in urgent situations. We will internalize microfinance and sunshine loans to provide practical support to people in need.
Friends, the road ahead is never easy, but I am confident that with your outstanding abilities and passion, we can overcome all difficulties and set the stage for a new leap forward. As Winston Churchill once said, “A pessimist sees only difficulties in every opportunity, but an optimist sees opportunities in every difficulty.” Our challenges may be infinitely difficult and daunting, but we should find new opportunities along the way and cheer ourselves up.
From the outside looking in, your abilities and enthusiasm make me proud to be a senior at the Financial Services Commission, but there are a few important things I want to remind you to do. First, you need to increase your specialization – become a “T-shaped person” with deep expertise in a particular area, but with a broad range of experience. Second, you need to stay connected to the financial markets. Like a lecturer who makes eye contact with the audience, you need to read and communicate with the financial markets. Third, you need to be decisive in diagnosing problems and resolving them quickly. Fourth, we must not forget to show respect and consideration for those in the financial industry. As the saying goes, “be considerate, be considerate,” and put yourself in their shoes first.
As we begin our work in the new year, I hope that we will once again review the coordinates and direction of the Financial Services Commission and align ourselves. The four characters of Sun Tzu’s Art of War, “Feng Lin Huashan,” are a guide to act as swiftly as the wind, as calmly as the forest, as fiercely as the flames, and as seriously as the mountains. I hope that our Commission can be creative and proactive in the face of the changing financial environment. Message from the Deputy Minister of Finance

It is with great responsibility that I take this position as Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. Along with this responsibility comes a sense of duty to work with you to navigate through the complex situation our economy is currently facing. With economic uncertainty and accelerating political and social change, the commitment and wisdom of all of us is needed now more than ever.
But just as our economy has bounced back from many crises in the past, I believe this can be a turning point. It is often said that a crisis is an opportunity, but for this to be true, it requires thorough preparation and innovation. Now is the time to not just get through this crisis, but to use it as an opportunity to put our economy on a stronger, more sustainable footing.
As I work with you in this position, I am committed to three principles.
First, we will be proactive. We must not just react to what is happening, but prepare, anticipate, and shape policy in advance. Economic policy is a field where the results are not immediate, so it is necessary to prepare from a long-term, structural perspective rather than focusing on short-term results. The policies and institutions we create can shape economic conditions for generations to come, so it’s important to prepare ahead of time with the attitude that policies have no tenure.
Second, I would like to emphasize the realization of common goals through cooperation and communication. I will break down barriers between departments and create a culture of open communication so that our economic team can move forward with one mind toward a single goal. It is time for all bureaus, not just the first and second ministerial offices, to work together organically without compartmentalization. When we are seen to be working together first, the entire economic team will be stronger as an organization, and this unity will be an important driving force to overcome the challenges facing our economy.
Finally, I would like to emphasize humility and a field-focused attitude. The success of any policy depends on how it is implemented on the ground. Policies should not be merely conceived on a desk, but should be practical policies that can actually make a positive difference in the lives of the people. To this end, we will abandon our elite mentality and humbly listen to the voices of the field. We will travel to the field to see the real effects of our policies, and quickly make necessary improvements so that our policies can provide real help to the people.
Dear colleagues, in difficult times, our solidarity and cooperation will shine even brighter. There are only two more pages left on the calendar for this year. “Already?” yes, we have reached the end of 2011, and the cold weather seems to be reminding us of the speed of time. The breeze that was blowing gently just two weeks ago is now chilly, and it’s hard to go outside without gloves or a scarf. The years go by, the seasons change, and we’ve learned and grown a lot along the way.
But one thing that hasn’t changed is the bond of our alumni and the value of our walk together. Time may ask us to change, but the friendships and trust that remain unwavering keeps us moving forward. As we look forward to the upcoming year, we pledge to continue to walk together for the betterment of the Alumni Association and the growth of each other.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the alumni who have taken time out of their busy schedules and traveled far and wide to be here today. I’d also like to extend a big thank you to our youngest alumni, who are here today to help shape the future of the Alumni Association. Your participation is a great strength to our organization.

Dear fellow seniors and juniors!
My most important goal as president is to facilitate communication among alumni. I believe that the first step to understanding and respect for each other begins with dialog, and I know that many misunderstandings and conflicts stem from a lack of dialog. To that end, we will do our best to provide frequent opportunities for alumni to communicate with each other, and we want the Alumni Association to be an important part of each of your lives, a space that we co-create with you.
We also want to focus on social contribution and volunteer activities that we can share together through the Alumni Association. It’s rewarding to know that our little touches add up and make a positive difference in the world around us, and we hope that our sharing will strengthen the bonds between alumni and have a warm impact on our society.
Finally, all of these initiatives are not grandiose dreams; they are simply a way to bring alumni closer together and give each other a little more support. I believe that if we all put in a little effort and put our hearts and minds to it, we can make it happen. I look forward to your support and encouragement along the way, and I once again ask for your warm advice and cooperation.

Inaugural Remarks by the President of the Animal Protection Association

Good evening, honored members.
I am ○○○, who has been appointed as the president of the ○○ Association for Animal Protection.
First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the previous president, ○○○, and the members of the association for trusting me with the position of president. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who took time out of your busy schedules to attend the inauguration ceremony.
We are honored to have the opportunity to gather with you here in ○○ Park on such a beautiful day, and it is not only the members of our association who are here today, but also the pets who are our family and friends. As a pet owner myself, I can’t help but be saddened when I think of the homeless animals in our care.
I don’t need to tell you how difficult it is to care for these animals, and I’m sure you’re well aware of the challenges we face. With limited resources and limited space, these animals are living out their lives with minimal care and food. Worse yet, even this care is often short-lived. In some cases, stray animals that have not been reclaimed after a period of time are eventually euthanized.
We hope you’ll take an interest in the plight of homeless animals. Please share information and stories about stray animals with others. Social concern for homeless animals is still low, and many people don’t take their lives seriously. People sometimes tend to view small, cute animals as mere accessories. This makes it easy for animals to be discarded when they become sick or outgrow their size. But the animals that live with us are just as valuable as the people they share their lives with. They are more than just pretty and cute, they have lives and feelings of their own.
Most abandoned animals are already injured or sick when they are found, but their deepest wounds are not physical, they are emotional wounds of abandonment. These animals, like your pet, were once someone’s beloved companion, and now they are living their lives in poor conditions, scarred by the abandonment of their loved ones.
We don’t just want to protect them, we want to help them live happy lives again. We will focus all of our efforts on healing the wounds of these animals and finding them new homes, but it starts with what we can all do. Please educate your loved ones about the importance of adopting a homeless animal and talk to them about the resources and support we need. Every little bit of support and love will go a long way to improving the treatment of homeless animals and preserving their lives.
I am here today to promise you that as the president of our association, I will continue to support the work of the organization. We will not only improve the treatment of homeless animals, but we will also be at the forefront of changing social perceptions, and we will do our best to show that homeless animals are not just objects to be protected and managed, but precious beings that belong with people.
With that, I would like to conclude my inaugural speech, and I hope that we will become a model organization for the protection and awareness of homeless animals. Thank you all for listening until the end.

Inaugural speech by the new president of the soccer club

Good evening, everyone.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our beloved ○○ soccer club members and their families, and to our guests who have taken time out of their busy schedules to be here today. This is a gathering of your passion and love, and your presence here today is a great encouragement.
The ○○ Soccer Club started out as a club with a little interest and passion, but today it has grown into a club with so many members who support each other and have become recognized outside of Korea. This was only possible because of the dedicated efforts of the first and second presidents. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the first president, ○○○, who is not here today, and to the second president, ○○○, who is here today, and I will continue the traditions and bonds that have been established.
The ○○ Soccer Club is now in its third year of existence, and over the past two years, we have grown together, sharing both joys and difficulties. The time spent on the field encouraging each other has made us who we are today, and the fruits of that work make me feel a great sense of honor and responsibility. What started as a club that got together simply because we loved soccer has now become a team with both skill and unity in the ○○ region, and I believe that the trust and bond between us is our greatest asset.
In order to meet your expectations, as the third president, I will strive to further develop the club, create opportunities for more members to participate and enjoy the game together, create an environment where everyone can play regardless of age and skill, and do my best to make the club a big family community that goes beyond soccer.
Although I have many shortcomings, I am confident that my passion and dedication to soccer and the club are second to none. I hope that you, the members, will continue to give me your support and advice.
As the year comes to a close, I look forward to creating many more joyful moments together in the coming year. I would like to wish all of you here today good health and happiness in your homes, and I wish you a great end to the year and a very happy new year.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of our guests, including the President of the Alumni Association ○○○, for taking the time out of their busy schedules during the holiday season to join us to celebrate our General Meeting and Year-End Night.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to all the classmates and their wives for their support in organizing this meaningful event. Your support makes today’s event feel even warmer and more meaningful. Thank you.
The year 2023 is coming to a close. As we look back on the achievements and disappointments in our homes, workplaces, and respective positions that we started this year with expectations and hopes, I sincerely hope that the upcoming year will be filled with even more meaningful things.
During this transitional period, I am excited to take on the enormous responsibility of being the president of my alumni association, but I also feel a heavy sense of responsibility. I believe that the fact that we, the ○○19th Alumni Association, have made so much progress in the 36 years since our graduation is due to the fact that all of you here have truly cared for and actively participated in the Alumni Association.
Since graduation, all of you have been doing your best in your respective paths and have led successful lives as good husbands and fathers at home, talented employees or CEOs in society. I would like to emphasize that your passion and dedication have been the driving force behind the development of the Alumni Association.
Dear Alumni, we have all reached the midpoint of our lives. Through the experiences we have shared with each other, we hope to create a more beautiful and mature middle-aged life together. I believe that you, who have fulfilled your role as pioneers, will now comfort and encourage each other with the warmth of life and pure friendship, and contribute to raising the status and value of the Alumni Association.
I will do my utmost to make the alumni association more than just a gathering, but a community with warmth and human smell, a cozy and comfortable meeting place like a “rural village hall”, and to make the alumni association a true friend where we laugh together and grieve together.

Dear ○○ students, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you, the faculty, staff, and parents for joining us today. It is with immense honor and great responsibility that I stand before you today on this momentous occasion. You’ve all worked so hard this semester, and I know you’ve been busy with schoolwork and activities, but I know your efforts have been rewarded with valuable results and growth.
There have been many things happening at the school this semester, both big and small, and the passion and tenacity you have shown through it all has been an inspiration to me and to all of your teachers. I am so pleased and grateful to have been able to see firsthand your potential and promise as educators. As we embark on the new journey I will be taking with you as your principal, I would like to make a few statements about the future direction of our school.
Dear students, this period of transition from adolescence to adulthood is the most important growth period of your life, and you are the chosen ones who are spending this precious time at ○○. This school is not just a place to impart knowledge, but to help you grow into proud Koreans and global leaders with a global perspective. To this end, we have always practiced student-centered education, providing a balanced curriculum that encompasses both Korean and global elements.
Our curriculum consists of identity education, leadership development, and international education, each of which is designed to help you fulfill your role as a proud leader in the world. In particular, identity education and leadership activities are important foundations for you to shape yourself and grow into the kind of person our society needs. In the future, we will further deepen this aspect so that you can internalize the values you need to have as leaders of Korea and the world.
On the international education front, we are also introducing new changes and enhanced programs to support your academic growth. As part of this, we are deepening our existing partnerships with U.S. institutions and transitioning to state university programs in the U.S. Until now, we have been delegating curriculum to U.S. institutions, with teachers assigning and evaluating assignments, but from now on, U.S. institutions will be in charge of the entire process. This change will ensure that your learning outcomes are assessed more fairly and objectively, while also providing you with the opportunity to have your academic credentials validated against global standards.
Under the new program, the amount and difficulty of your assignments will be much higher than now, but we believe this is the way to enhance your academic growth and international competitiveness. Through this process, you will be able to develop an independent and self-directed learning attitude. We have made great preparations and efforts for this change, and we expect the fruits of our efforts to be fully visible from the second semester.
In addition, all of our activities are based on community norms. Being respectful, responsible, and growing as a student is an essential part of being a student, so we will continue to work with you to increase your compliance with the Community Code and to help you develop a culture of respect and collaboration.
Our goal is for each and every one of you to grow into global leaders and for ○○ to become a world-class name. Achieving this goal requires not only the efforts of the school authorities, but also the deep understanding and cooperation of students, teachers, and parents. Good evening, esteemed members of the Lifelong Learning family!
First, I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for your heartfelt welcome. I’m also incredibly honored to be able to work with you to shape the future of the Lifelong Learning Center. To be honest, before I came here, I didn’t really know what the Lifelong Learning Center does.
But when I visited our website for the first time late at night before my first day on the job, I realized how diverse the organization is and how it provides valuable learning opportunities for faculty, staff, parents, students, and community members. It was a little intimidating to take on such an important role. I didn’t sleep well last night, wondering if I would be up to the task.
But today, after meeting all of you in person, I’m starting to feel a little less anxious. It’s comforting to know that I’m surrounded by the people I’ve always looked up to, the directors and department heads, and the passionate and dedicated staff. With you, I feel confident that we can get through whatever challenges come our way. We’re not good enough, but we’ll do our best.
The 21st century is often referred to as the knowledge society. We live in an era of constant competition, where technology and information are changing rapidly, and the speed at which we adapt and evolve with these changes determines the quality of our lives. That’s why education and learning are more important than ever. Our institutions also feel the responsibility to stay ahead of the curve in this rapidly changing knowledge society, and it will take preparation and effort.
I believe that our lifelong learning centers should not only be the purveyors of knowledge, but also a place of learning that is open to everyone. To do this, we, as providers, must read the times and lead the way in changing the knowledge paradigm. It is time for us to work together to make our learning centers the most necessary and trusted institutions for our communities and residents.
In addition, as we bring joy and growth to our people, we must also be able to be happy. It is said that we cannot make others happy if we are not happy ourselves. Work shouldn’t just be a way for us to make a living, it should be a place where we can find meaning and fulfillment in our lives. Only when we can find true joy and reward at work can we say that our lives are meaningful and enjoyable. I believe it is important to respect, encourage, and share positive energy with each other at work. I will lead the way and try to help you find a little happiness and joy in your daily life.
They say there are two kinds of people in the world. There are those who consider every encounter a coincidence, and those who consider every encounter a miracle. I am the latter. In Buddhism, it’s said that you have to have a thousand encounters in your previous life before you’re touched by a single one in this life. When you think about it, the fact that out of so many people in such a big world, we all happen to be working together in one workplace is a truly amazing and precious connection in itself, and I will strive to build on this precious connection and make every step we take together meaningful and rewarding.
Dear Lifelong Learning family, I know that the journey ahead will not be easy, but as I stand here today, I have faith that with you, we can overcome any challenge. If we trust and respect each other and grow together, our learning center will surely become an institution recognized by the community and residents.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for being here today. I am honored to stand in the position of Alumni President representing our school, ○○. I am personally honored to take on this position, but at the same time, I am worried that I will not be able to live up to the expectations of the Alumni Association and all of its members. I am sure that by placing your faith in me and entrusting me with this role, you are encouraging me to do a good job, and I will do my best to repay that faith.

Today marks the 30th anniversary of our alma mater. It also happens to be Teachers’ Day, and I am very pleased to be here with you today in the warm May sunshine to celebrate this special day that brings together our alma mater, our teachers, and our alumni.
○○ School has produced countless graduates, and our alumni are doing their best in their respective positions in society. Our alma mater has grown day by day, thanks to the dedication and passion of our teachers and the tireless efforts of our juniors. It is this beautiful tradition and the strong bond that continues under the name of our alma mater that has brought us together again.
Dear Alumni!
Although our alma mater has been open for 30 years, there are still many challenges ahead. Compared to other schools, our alumni association is just beginning to build a strong foundation. The first class of alumni is also just beginning to play a pivotal role in society, and it’s understandable that the Alumni Association may not be able to fully capture the wishes and desires of all alumni.
Nevertheless, our seniors have worked tirelessly to establish a beautiful tradition by solidifying the foundation of the Alumni Association despite various difficulties. In particular, the first generation of alumni laid the foundation of the Alumni Association with the determination not to feel lonely and isolated from the days when there was no alumni association. The 2nd class has worked hard to build on this foundation to create a more unified and productive alumni association that is actually helpful to the alumni. I believe that it is because of their dedication that the alumni association has grown into what it is today.
Dear fellow alumni of ○○ School!
Now, during my term with you, I would like to build on the foundation laid by my predecessors and create an alumni association where more alumni can voluntarily participate, socialize, and lead the development of the school. I will strive to build an alumni organization that grows and works together with our alma mater so that we can all be proud of our alumni.
To achieve this goal, we need your active interest and support. The Alumni Association is only as strong as the efforts and dedication of each of us. Your continued support and participation will continue to enrich the Alumni Association. Good evening, fellow alumni.
First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the seniors who traveled a long way to be with us, and to the juniors who took time out of their busy schedules to be here today. In particular, a big thank you to our proud youngest alumni who are attending their first reunion. I hope that today will be a memorable time for our alumni that they will remember for a long time.
For me, for my classmates, and for all of you in this room, this will be an important chapter in your lives. It means a great deal to me to stand here today, filled with anticipation and excitement, and to dream of the new future of the Alumni Association that we will build together.
Of course, I was worried about whether I would be able to live up to your expectations as president, but the warm encouragement and support I received from my predecessors and classmates gave me the confidence to take on this role. With your active cooperation and support, I promise to do my best to live up to your expectations.
As alumni sailing in the same boat, we are a community, each in our own place, working towards the same goal. We may face rough waves and adversity at times, but if we all pull together and add our wisdom to each other’s, we will one day be able to share great joy in the progress of the Alumni Association. I am confident that our small steps will add up to great progress for the Alumni Association.
Dear fellow alumni, there are a few things I would like to accomplish as president. First, I will honor the achievements of our past presidents and continue to build on the fundamentals of our alumni association to make it even stronger. The hard work and dedication of each president has brought us to where we are today, and I hope we can build on that spirit and grow into a stronger community.
Secondly, we will continue to organize senior citizen events for the elderly in our hometowns. We want to honor the elderly, who are our roots, and bring them a small but great joy. We will personally visit senior centers to express our gratitude and share the warmth of our alumni organization.
Thirdly, we will make multifaceted efforts to encourage our juniors to participate more actively in the alumni association. We will create an environment where our juniors can freely participate and communicate with each other by forming more leadership positions. Especially now that the school is closed, our alumni association should be a valuable link to convey the warmth of home to our juniors. Through close relationships between seniors and juniors, we will share memories and nostalgia with each other and help them feel proud to be new alumni.
We will also plan various programs to make alumni activities more accessible so that juniors can easily participate in them. This will give them the opportunity to feel nostalgic for their hometown and share memories with fellow alumni.
These are not big goals, but I think they can be realized one by one with the support of all alumni, and I hope that the past presidents and alumni will give me their supportive applause, generous advice, and warm cooperation so that my small wishes can come to fruition.

I would like to express my deepest respect and gratitude to our esteemed President, Mr. ○○○, the previous Alumni Association Presidents, Mr. ○○○, the Senior Vice President, Mr. ○○○, the Secretary, the Directors, the Auditors, and all of you who have been cooperating with us for the benefit of the Alumni Association of ○○ Elementary School.
I was born in a small town, graduated from ○○ Elementary School, and left my hometown early. As I look back today, I realize that I have contributed very little to the Alumni Association, and that I have been riding for free on the invaluable work that my seniors and juniors have done. Nevertheless, today, with the support of my classmates, I have been nominated as the president of the Alumni Association, and I am deeply honored to be nominated as the first president of the Alumni Association. At the same time, however, I feel a tremendous sense of responsibility and fear, as my inadequacies to take on such a big position come to mind first.
Honored alumni!
As president of the Alumni Association, the most important thing for me is to strengthen the harmony and unity we have built among alumni. The Alumni Association is an important place where we can continue our relationships after graduation, and where we can be a strong fence for each other. I promise to do my best to make it even better, with passion and sincerity. Despite my shortcomings and inadequacies, I believe that with your continued support, advice, and love, our Alumni Association will continue to grow and flourish.
As the year draws to a close, we all have regrets and unfulfilled wishes, both big and small, but we all still have warm hearts and generous minds. Despite the challenges we’ve each faced on our journey through life, the hope and support that we can share together is more abundant than ever because we’re all here together.
It is said that love brings more happiness to give than to receive, and those of you who have practiced giving know the value of that happiness. Hello, everyone!
My name is ○○○, and I am the ○th President of the Alumni Association.
I would like to begin my inaugural speech by expressing my deepest gratitude to my predecessor, Mr. ○○, who has led the Alumni Association with great character and outstanding leadership for the past four years.
Since its founding in 1972, our alumni association has grown by leaps and bounds, overcoming many difficulties. Today, our alumni association has grown into an excellent organization that is comparable to any other alumni association in Korea. I believe that all of these achievements were possible due to the active cooperation and participation of many alumni and the dedicated efforts of the executive team, including the previous president. I would like to take this opportunity to once again pay tribute to all of you for your hard work.
Today is a day of great honor and pride for me as I assume the presidency of the Alumni Association, but at the same time, I am weighed down with the responsibility to continue to build upon the reputation of the Alumni Association that has been established by past presidents and other alumni, and I would like to ask for your continued support and cooperation.
The world is changing rapidly. Every field is being asked to change, and those who fail to adapt will be left behind. I believe that our alumni association must also keep pace with these changes. However, in setting the direction of the alumni association’s development, I would like to maintain the current strengths of the alumni association rather than simply shouting for change for the sake of change. I would like to build on the foundation of the alumni association that has worked well so far, and seek to inherit the current situation and develop in line with the times.
This does not mean that we will be complacent; we will set clear step-by-step goals and directions to realize the organizational goals and values set forth in the Alumni Association’s bylaws. We will strive to ensure that the Alumni Association remains true to its values and identity while adapting to the changing environment.
I believe that the driving force of the Alumni Association is the interest and participation of alumni. To this end, I will do my best to gain the interest and participation of many alumni. I will seek ways to strengthen the relationship with the periodic alumni associations to collect and reflect various opinions of alumni. I will also strengthen the online platform so that alumni can participate in the alumni association at any time, and create opportunities for many alumni to feel comfortable through efficient events.
Currently, we are all facing difficulties due to the global economic crisis and various social issues. This situation may have a great impact on the activities of our alumni association, but I believe that it will be an opportunity to strengthen the cohesion of our alumni association and create more enjoyable and meaningful alumni activities. The more difficult the situation, the deeper we understand each other, and we will strive to become an alumni association with warm hearts, solidarity, and support.

This is what I envision the reunion to be.

Inaugural Remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs

Good morning, colleagues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
I received my appointment letter from President Lee Myung-bak a little while ago, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the support you have given me so far.
As you know, there has been a long gap in the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the situation is very urgent in the run-up to the G20 Summit. In recognition of this urgency, the National Assembly has held my confirmation hearings at an unusually quick pace, even rescheduling the National Audit. I am honored to assume the ministerial position amidst such national expectations and urgency. At the same time, I have developed a strong will to reform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to realize the people’s and government’s desire for mature diplomacy.
We have been working day and night on the global diplomatic scene to realize the government’s diplomatic vision of a “mature world nation.” Thanks to your efforts, our diplomacy has made great strides and our country is gaining prominence in the international community. However, the recent irregularities and fairness issues in the special recruitment process have caused great disappointment to the public, and trust in the ministry has taken a major hit.
We must now boldly clean up these past problems and rebuild ourselves as a trusted organization through a comprehensive reorganization. To ensure that your hard work under difficult circumstances is not in vain, we must do our best to conduct fair and transparent diplomacy that meets the expectations of the people and the world. I would like to take this opportunity to share my wisdom with my colleagues and make a firm pledge to use this crisis as an opportunity to improve our diplomatic capabilities.
The need for a new diplomatic strategy
Colleagues, the international community’s environment is rapidly becoming more complex. Today, we are facing a new diplomatic terrain that goes beyond the military and economy to include resources and energy, climate change, and science and technology. To respond to these changes, we need a new diplomatic strategy that involves experts and policymakers from various fields working together.
First, we need to realize “total diplomacy” in line with the global trend of “democratization of diplomacy.” Diplomacy is no longer the sole domain of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and we need to make a transition to “total diplomacy” that involves other ministries in the government, as well as businesses and civil society. We need to create an environment where all sectors can participate in diplomacy and work together to promote integrated and coherent diplomacy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be the center of diplomacy that maximizes national interests by actively supporting the diplomatic activities of other ministries and the private sector with an open mind.
Second, we should promote ‘complex diplomacy’ to proactively deal with complex diplomatic issues. Issues of national interest are no longer limited to politics and economics, but are intersecting in various areas. As a result, we will need to strengthen cooperation and communication with parliaments and the private sector in our diplomacy with major countries, aiming for a comprehensive diplomacy that can wisely coordinate complex interests among countries and maximize national interests.
Third, we should actively pursue “digital network diplomacy. In the 21st century diplomatic environment, it is more important than ever to communicate with the world through social networking services (SNS) such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc. to enhance our national image and promote mutual understanding. We will strengthen our global network through digital platforms and use them as an important tool for promoting our national interests. In particular, we will set up various programs for our citizens and young people abroad to act as “cyber diplomats” through social media.
Finally, we must strengthen our ‘soft power diplomacy’ as a middle-income country. We need to actively utilize our soft power to build a positive image of our country and build trust in the international community. To this end, we will actively promote our culture, arts, and traditions, and conduct various diplomatic activities to reach out to citizens around the world.
Organizational Management and Reform Direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Dear colleagues, a transparent and fair personnel system is essential for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to become a fair organization that is truly trusted by the people. I recognize that the recent recruitment problems have caused disappointment to those of you who have worked with pride and a sense of mission. In the face of this disappointment and pain, we must move forward together to secure the future of the Foreign Ministry.
I will establish an objective and transparent personnel system that lives up to the name of the Fair Ministry, and base all personnel decisions on merit and performance. I will ensure that the word “favoritism” will never be heard in the Ministry again, and that we will break down barriers between hierarchies to establish an organizational culture where sincere and competent employees can be fairly evaluated and grow.
Commitment to the success of the G20 Summit
The G20 Seoul Summit is now just over a month away. In order to make up for the time we lost due to the ministerial vacancy, we will have to put all our efforts into preparations for the remaining period. This summit is not just an economic meeting, but also an opportunity to impress the world with Korea’s diplomatic prowess. Let us all do our best to make the meeting a success so that Korea’s prowess can once again be imprinted in the minds of the world.

Even if there is no immediate visible fruit, our diplomatic efforts will serve as an important foundation for raising our country’s profile and preparing for our nation’s tomorrow.
